Russell Simmons is just starting to sense a little normalcy. He’s back at yoga and the hip-hop and business mogul is even able to run some errands without worrying about whether a disgruntled RushCard holder might attack him or worse. Never one to complain or to shy away from a problem, Simmons never hung his head despite mounting – if unfair – criticism rocked the music impresario when his innovative credit card experienced a glitch last fall that prevented hundreds of thousands of card holders from accessing their money.

Did Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby overcharge or rush to judgment in prosecuting the police officers who arrested Freddie Gray? That’s the conclusion many pundits continue to reach in the aftermath of the acquittal of Officer Edward Nero. But, it’s the opinion of the judge that matters most and, on Monday, May 23, Baltimore Circuit Judge Barry Williams said the state failed to meet its burden of proof in prosecuting one of the officers involved in the arrest that led to Gray’s

death. “Since the defendant’s contact with Mr. Gray came after Mr. Gray was detained by Miller, this Court finds that the contact by the defendant was legally justified and not reckless. Therefore, as alleged by the State, there is no assault by the defendant,” Williams said in his ruling following a fiveday bench trial. Nero’s acquittal follows the December mistrial of Officer William Porter on manslaughter charges. Four other officers have yet to have their cases heard. However, as much as some claim Mosby rushed to try her

Exelon Corporation; Vince Morris, Sr., manager, Corporate Communications, Pepco Holdings; and Donna M. Cooper, president, Pepco Region, addressed issues that included: leading the area’s commitment to “going green;” rate increases; significant capital increases in infrastructure; residential customer rebates; and how the two companies will now work together and share services. “The merger has created a $25 million pot to keep the bills of residential customers unchanged through 2019.
