Like musical chairs, there’s a merry-go-round for Senate and House seats in Maryland after longtime senator Barbara Mikulski decided not to seek a sixth term in 2016 and after Rep. Donna Edwards announced

she’s bolting her chair in an attempt to gain a Senate seat. And, as Edwards looks to grab the Senate’s chair, a familiar face is seeking to snag her seat in the House. “I still have something to give back to our community,” said former Maryland Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown in an email pub-

lished first by The Baltimore Sun. Brown, who had been the favorite to win the governor’s office in the fall but ultimately lost to Republican Larry Hogan, entered the race for Edwards’ seat one day after former State’s Attorney Glenn Ivey said he, too, would jump into a race that

could be one of Maryland’s most closely watched Democratic primaries in the 2016 election. “I know this isn’t going to be easy, but nothing worth fighting for ever is,” Brown said. For Ivey, the Princeton grad and partner at the Northwest law firm of K&L Gates, it’s his second bite at the apple that is
