ANNUAL REPORT 2024

World Horizons USA office was established in Richmond in 1985. Today, World Horizons has teams and ac vity in more than thirty na ons. However, the birthplace of the ministry is the town of Llanelli in South Wales, in the United Kingdom.

The North Dock Center, also established in 1985 has been developed as a mul -purpose ministry center. It houses the offices of World Horizons UK and other ministries and businesses, and is home to Y Doc (The Dock in Welsh), a hostel providing accommoda on for

many groups and travelers. Un l recently a large part of the former industrial warehouse remained underu lized. This space is now being redeveloped as The Crea ve Space, for a mul tude of purposes.

In December of 2024 a Christmas Fair was hosted as an outreach to the community; at other mes community groups use the space for their ac vi es, including theater, choir and youth orchestra, art therapy workshops and studio

Skye Young, a member of World Horizons USA who previously served the Edit Gallery in Richmond, moved to Wales with her husband, Zach, and now serves as the director of the Crea ve Space.

She states: Crea ve Space exists to encourage people to discover and explore their crea vity and iden ty. As believers, we consider the act of

crea ng to be a form of worship and that we are all innately crea ve, as reflec ons of our Creator. With the forma on of the Crea ve Space, we desire to see a space shaped by its community that celebrates the diverse expressions of the individual, as well as what weaves us together as humans. Through open studio me, workshops, gallery exhibi ons, markets, and a program of community events, we foster a space for the folks of the region to explore place, belonging, and iden ty.

During 2024 Skye was also able to begin development of a community garden as an outdoor addi on to the Crea ve Space. We look forward to seeing how the Lord will use all aspects of His Crea ve Space to build His Kingdom in this Welsh community.

World Horizons USA is pleased to announce the appointment of Joel Mills as the new Execu ve Director for the ministry.

Joel and his wife Angela joined World Horizons in 2016 and interned in Richmond for a year before moving to the Eastern Mediterranean where they served for six years. During these years Joel served in several leadership posi ons including oversight of the local team and par cipa on in the leadership of a year-long discipleship and ministry training program for local be-

Please pray for the Mills family as they take on this new role. Joel officially starts April 1, and Angela will serve part me in the coordina on of member pastoral care.

The Anura School in Niger, West Africa is a ministry of World Horizons and has long been supported through the Richmond office. During 2024 and through partnership with Richmond-based Elijah House Academy, a Chris an school serving the local inner -city community, 110 new double desks were purchased for the school.

The Anura School provides a Chris an educa on for around 400 elementary age children every year, from Kindergarten through year 6. The opera ng costs of the school are supported through donors in the USA, Europe and Brazil. This ensures that school fees can be kept to a minimum.

Niger is a majority Muslim na on with low rates of literacy. The school’s services are in demand from a diverse popula on because of the high standard that it has maintained. The school has won several local awards during more than two decades of opera on. Even as all the students receive elements of a strong Chris an educa on in partnership with a local church, several of the children gradua ng have gone on to make an impact as Chris ans in their community.
