Welcome to this exciting event th years in the making. Our last live auction production sale was in 2012 at which time we dispersed most of the broodmare band in order to free up more time for our young families. I should have known that once the horse business is in your blood, there is no avoiding it So, here we are eleven years later John Sachau and I started partnering some of the best own daughter type broodmares over the last five years We have been doing strictly online sales the last few years Our numbers have reached such a level, though, that we felt it was time to go back to a live auction So again, here we are!! While Sachau and I both maintain our own core broodmare bands, about half are partnership mares that we own jointly It is a partnership that works great because we are both livestock men at our core We each have our own strengths in the equine world, but we see them the same way for the most part.

As far as family goes, Kari keeps busy as a dental hygienist. I keep occupied selling John Deere equipment for VanWall along with the equine business. Both of our girls are in college. Olivia is starting medical school at the end of July at Des Moines University. Violet is at Iowa State University majoring in chemical engineering and starting her Masters of Business Administration degree concurrently. Needless to say, we are very proud of both girls! Tim and Jamie have two beautiful youngsters: Gus (11) and Aubrey (8). Gus is going to the MLB after finishing his college baseball career and Aubrey is still undecided! Both love the horses and are starting to be a lot of help. Dad, Ed, is still very active and still lives at the ranch, taking care of many of the day to day duties with the horses I have to mention my nephew Gabe Walski Gabe has been living at the ranch with dad the last two summers while on summer break from Iowa State He has been a godsend by feeding pairs every morning and checking health twice a day I am happy to have the next generation taking such an interest in the horses

John Sachau ended a 47-year-long single streak and got married last spring He and Brinda live on their family century ranch outside of Denison along with their two beautiful girls Whitley and Wrynn. Whitley is starting her senior year of high school while taking core college classes for her nursing degree. Wrynn is 14 and is tasked with choring the Denison groups of mares, as well as keeping us entertained on the occasional long trips to Texas.

John’s sister Michelle Sachau is very involved with the horse operation and we greatly appreciate all she does for us to keep things running smoothly.

We would also like to welcome our good friends Ryan and Kelly Sonnichsen along with their kids Sophie and Sawyer as guest consignors on our sale. They have a very nice offering of Roosters Okie weanlings and a couple very nice yearlings

I am confident that you will be very pleased with our large offering I feel this is one of the most spectacular offerings of weanlings in the country We appreciate your interest, and look forward to all of you joining us on August 19th in Dunlap, Iowa
