The Frears Quaich Trophy

This award is in memory of the Product Design teacher, Mike Frears, who sadly passed away in 2002. Mike always sought to push the boundaries of design within the Design Technology department, and the innovation of his work is what inspires this trophy. The award is given to the pupil who demonstrates the best creative solutions in Design Technology.

This trophy is in memory of Design Technology teacher, Mike Hakes, who passed away in 2011 after a long period of ill health. Inspired by Mike’s eye for detail and seemingly boundless knowledge, this trophy is given to the pupil who displays outstanding practical ability in Design Technology. The trophy reflects Mike’s passion for sailing in its design.

Tobi was in the Lower Sixth Form when he passed away on 5 March 2011. The Tobi Adeyemi Award is given to the pupil who best displays the same characteristics of friendliness, determination and team spirit.

This award is in memory of Charlie Hutton, who passed away on 20 July 2012 when in the Third Form. Charlie always displayed an abiding love for Hockey, and his skill, flair and passion for the sport, coupled with his respect for his fellow teammates, earned him the admiration of all. The Charlie Hutton Award is given to the pupil in the Third Form who best displays the same characteristics of desire, passion, friendliness and skill.
Leon Berisha Memorial Award

This award is in memory of Leon Berisha, who passed away on 1 September 2021 when in the Fifth Form. Leon always displayed a true zest for life, was someone who remained cheerful in the face of significant obstacles and made everyone smile – both pupils and staff alike. The Leon Berisha Memorial is given to the pupil who best displays the same characteristics of zest for life, cheerfulness and the ability to make everyone smile.
The Smith Sword Award

This prize is in memory of Lt Col Keith Smith (MBE), who was the Head of History and the Contingent Commander of the CCF along with many other roles, who passed away on 4 April 2021. He gave over 35 years of commitment to the School, and he was unwavering in his determination and zeal in getting the best out of the students. The Smith Sword Award is given to the student who best displayed fortitude, dedication, and unrelenting energy to get the job done.
Daniel Hunter Memorial Award

This prize is in memory of Daniel Hunter, a pupil at the School who passed away on 25 December 2002. He was a dedicated member of the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) and was an Upper Sixth NCO at the time of his passing. He represented the School at CCF competitions and was a hugely popular student, always encouraging and supporting other cadets. The award is given to the CCF NCO who has demonstrated their unwavering commitment, dedication, and gone above and beyond to support the CCF and junior cadets in their training.
