Our registration system allows you to search and filter programs by keyword, location, type of activity (service), instructor, date and age to find the programs that work best for you and your schedule.

1. Visit the registration login page and select “Create an Account”.

To register online with our system, you will need an account.

Make sure your account details are up-to-date. You can add family members, update your contact information and securely save a credit card to your file for faster checkout.

THE LEISURE ACCESS PROGRAM PROVIDES SUBSIDIZED RECREATION FOR LOW INCOME FAMILIES

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS? White Rock Residents: 50% off eligible White Rock Recreation and Culture programs 0r memberships. Up to $300 per year.

Free public skating at Centennial Arena A season pass for the ice-in season, October-March; helmet and skate rentals are included.

Applications are available at White Rock Recreation and Culture or visit whiterockcity.ca/lap to download the application form (pdf ).

The Leisure Access program provides low income residents with access to recreation programs and services.

Complete one application per family and drop off completed application form with proof of residency and proof of household income to one of our recreation facilities.

The program ensures that residents are not restricted from access or participation in a reasonable variety of recreation activities due to financial hardship.

HOW DO I ACCESS MY BENEFITS? Once you and your family have been approved for Leisure Access, we will contact you with information on how you can access your benefits.

Residents are provided with a mechanism for accessing subsidies which incorporates confidentiality, dignity, privacy and easy access.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE? All permanent White Rock and South Surrey residents who meet the annual family income limitations may apply.

The Curious History of Colour in Art

This art lecture is all about colour and how the history and science of colour are sometimes surprising. Artist pigments came from strange sources. Certain artists have become associated with a colour, like Picasso’s blue period or Van Gogh’s sunny yellows, while others used colour to change how we see reality or express emotions.

Body Image and Style in Art History

After two years at home and few fashion demands, it is time for a light hearted look at figure shapes and changing fashions. What was the ideal in one century, was out in the next. Why did the ancient artist paint slender-hipped Egyptians or Rubens paint chubby ladies? Art shows us what artists saw as an ideal, but fashion dictated what was really beautiful, no matter how strange it was.

What is Jumpstart?

Jumpstart Charities help families overcome financial and accessibility barriers to sport and recreation in an effort to provide inclusive play for kids of all abilities.

Kids 4-18 years can receive funding to help with program registration fees.

Which White Rock Recreation and Culture programs are eligible?

Programs should be a minimum of five weeks in duration and include at least one session per week. Sports camps must last at least five consecutive days for consideration.

How do I apply for Jumpstart funding?

for more information and to access the Jumpstart granting system.

The City of White Rock is no longer able to apply on behalf of our community members.

Edible Plants From the Garden & Woods

Discover flowers and plants that can be NEW added to the dinner plate for both beauty and flavour. Long time garden designer, forager and herbalist Teresa Klein will share the basics for planting and care of an edible planter, plus introduce you to an array of flowers and plants easily found in both domestic and wild landscapes.

Samples of these edible delights will be available for viewing, tasting and identification. Bring a mug to try a cup of hot tea made from foraged plants.

Garment Sewing 102 - Knit Top using Digital Pattern

Building on our knowledge of pattern and NEW fabric selection, make a simple T-shirt while learning to use digital patterns by BurdaStyle. Topics include how to print and use digital sewing patterns, pattern layout on fabric, facings and interfacings, special handling of knit fabrics, invisible zippers and use of twin needles.

Participants must be comfortable with their machines and have some previous sewing experience.

Garment Sewing 103 - Construction

Spend the day starting the construction NEW of a garment of your choice. Choose a simple garment such as a skirt or sundress or child’s dress, prepare your fabric and pin the pattern to it. In class we will learn how to check the layout, cut out and start construction. Skills covered will include sewing darts, seam finishes, gathering, waistbands, zippers and other closures. A collaborative research-creation project that addresses climate change at the local scale of the lower Fraser River watershed. This new display takes audiences on a journey of walking, listening, and learning.
