The White Rock Museum and Archives is dedicated to preserving and promoting local history and culture and is located in the historic White Rock Train Station.

The Museum offers changing exhibits and programs that interpret regional and local history and challenges visitors to think about the future as well as the past.

Located adjacent to City Hall, the library acts as a meeting place for many literary and cultural groups. The library hosts book clubs, writing clubs and a history club that are all open to the public. Another feature of the library is their art wall, which has monthly art exhibitions showcasing local artists.

The Leisure Access program provides low income residents with access to recreation programs and services.

The program ensures that residents are not restricted from access or participation in a reasonable variety of recreation activities due to financial hardship.

Residents are provided with a mechanism for accessing subsidies which incorporates confidentiality, dignity, privacy and easy access.

Kids Drama Mask Camp

What is Jumpstart?

Jumpstart Charities gives kids a sporting chance. Kids aged 4 to 18 years from families in financial need can receive funding to help with registration fees.

Participating in sport helps kids develop physical and social skills. It helps build self-esteem. By helping kids get into the game, we’re equipping them with determination. And we’re giving them confidence.

(Ages 7-10) $150 • Mon-Fri August 10-14, 10am-Noon Explore and create characters that are “out of this world” using masks and improvisation! Play drama games, build your own mask and improvise a scene for the parent performance at the end of the week.

Tween-Teen Drama Camp (Ages 11-16) $150 • Mon-Fri July 20-24, 10am-Noon or August 10-14, 1-3pm Students will create tons of hilarious characters, learn about improvisation and together write a small play to perform for their families on the last day.

What Recreation and Culture summer camps are eligible?

Many City of White Rock active summer camps are eligible for Jumpstart funding. Camps that are eligible include Brad Higgs Soccer camp, Ball Hockey camp, Fencing camp, Sportball camp, Tennis XL camp, Skimboarding camp, Snag Golf camp, and more.

Children’s Classes

Does my child qualify for Jumpstart funding?

Families must meet financial need criteria in order to qualify for Jumpstart funding. Jumpstart follows Revenue Canada’s Low Income Cut-offs (LICOs) which are based on a family’s size, the size of their community and the total family unit income (before tax).

Drawing from the World Health Organization and other significant healthy communities research, it was determined that health is much more than the absence of disease and includes a full range of quality of life issues. With a long history of community and cooperation, South Surrey/White Rock is an excellent example of how people can collectively work together in order to create a healthier environment. With this foundation in mind, Our Healthy Community was conceived to develop opportunities that would inspire people to learn about and participate in healthy activities and community events, essentially creating the healthiest community possible for its residents.
