How can I apply?

Applications are available at White Rock Leisure Services (604-541-2199) or visit www.whiterockcity.ca to download the Leisure Access application form.

The program ensures that residents are not restricted from access or participation in a reasonable variety of recreation activities due to financial hardship.

Complete one application per family and return it to the registration desk with proof of residency and proof of household income.

Residents are provided with a mechanism for accessing subsidies which incorporates confidentiality, dignity, privacy and easy access.

Canadian Tire Jump Start Program

Assisting those children ages 4-18 that due to financial hardship would not otherwise be able to participate in a physical activity.

Funding up to $300/year per child to participate in one program per submission period.

The submission period is defined as: January 15 - June 1 (Winter/Spring) and July 1 - November 15 (Summer/Fall).

The application form for the Jump Start Program is available at White Rock Leisure Services to those who qualify for the Leisure Access program.

Set in a forested park, the lively Centennial Park Leisure Centre and ice rink complex brings together everything that makes life in White Rock so rich and vibrant. The White Rock Community Centre has a large, bright art room, where a variety of art classes take place for all ages and abilities.

The Community Centre is home to the Art on Display program, a partnership between the City of White Rock and Semiahmoo

The City of White Rock offers unique opportunities for artists to display and sell their work in outdoor spaces. At the Waterfront, there are four busker locations to listen and watch local talent. Buskers can also be seen in uptown on sunny summer days. The waterfront is home to the Artists Walk, art displays and demonstrations on the White Rock Museum and Archives Plaza and along the West Beach promenade. Artists Walk is a great place to meet local artists

Located adjacent to City Hall, the library acts as a meeting space for many literary and cultural groups. The library hosts book clubs, writing clubs and a history club that are all open to the public. On the second Wednesday of each month they hold an SFU Philosopher’s Café- these are not to be missed! The library also hosts monthly art exhibitions on their art wall and is a great venue for local artists to display art. Contact the library directly for more details on their programming and events.

Semiahmoo Arts

Semiahamoo Arts is an umbrella organization dedicated to supporting the arts community in White Rock, South Surrey and Semiahmoo First Nation. STARSkate / Competitive

Canada’s learn-toskate program teaches fundamental skating movements and basic skills. For ages 4-12.

Program develops power, agility and speed for hockey and ringette players. Classes are based on skill level, not age.

Skaters will need to be assessed before entering program.

Program is the connecting link between CanSkate and STARSkate and is designed to complement Skate Canada’s Learn-to-Train model. Skaters learn basic figure skating skills, jumps, spins and routines. By coach invitation only. Registration limited.

Development program focuses on four areas - Interpretative, Dance, Skating Skills, Free Skate.

Skaters can take tests while earning awards and incentives, and participating in competitions.
