Essex, the oldest county in Great Britain offers a unique blend of modern golf courses and traditional golf clubs that ripple with history.

Essex is only a short trip from London, with easily accessible and excellent motorway links, where you will find fantastic value for money golf breaks. Colchester is the county town of Essex and is steeped in history, being Britain’s first city and the capital of Roman Britain. It is home to many family attractions such as Colchester Zoo and Colchester Castle, with a multitude of places to eat and drink.

One fine example is the Playgolf Colchester course, which is located on the edge of the city, in glorious countryside, in an area known as Lexdon Wood, just off the A12. The main 18-hole course has an outstanding reputation for being both inspiring and beautiful, lifting the spirits for every golfer who plays it. The Playgolf Colchester venue is well organised for group golf, so Societies and visiting groups are welcome both during the week and at the weekend, with a range of reasonably priced packages that start from just £28 per person. Golf Days encompass excellent golf and fantastic dining options in The Clubhouse bar and restaurant which is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
