Founded by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in 1961, the White House Historical Association has dedicated its first fifty-nine years to ensuring her plans are accomplished. We are proud to represent the American people in providing non-taxpayer funding to maintain the museum-quality of the White House State Rooms—just as Mrs. Kennedy envisioned. We also undertake a growing variety of robust educational programs, teaching the stories of White House history going back to 1792 when the cornerstone was laid.

With this annual catalog, we are especially pleased to share the Official 2020 White House Christmas Ornament, which honors President John F. Kennedy. The legacy of President Kennedy’s brief term as the thirty-fifth President of the United States lives on in his youthful belief in America and his faith in America’s responsibilities to the world. The ornament beautifully mirrors President Kennedy’s official White House portrait, created in 1970 by Aaron Shikler, which symbolizes his unfinished presidency, unwavering courage, and commitment to this country.

In its representation of President Kennedy’s historic time in office, this year’s ornament signifies the courage and resiliency of our country during troubling times. THE OFFICIAL 2020 WHITE HOUSE ORNAMENT The Official 2020 White House Ornament commemorates John F. Kennedy, the thirty-fifth President of the United States. With this ornament President Kennedy is remembered through his posthumous official White House portrait, created in 1970 by Aaron Shikler. The portrait, symbolic of his unfinished presidency, hangs in the White House today. The reverse side of the ornament features an engraved quote from First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy: “The White House belongs to the American people.” Mrs. Kennedy envisioned a restored, museum quality presentation of furnishings and decor from the era of the early presidents and through the formation of the White House Historical Association, preserved the White House State Rooms for the enjoyment of the public that continues today.
