Concept Statement Rebirth is a concept inspired by nature herself, and a variety of artists whose work focuses on the endless cycles present in nature. Environmental cycles are natual processes in which elements are continuously cycled in various forms between different compartments of the environment (air, water, soil & organisms). This collection explores these cycles not only in a conceptual sense, but a practical one in terms of circular fashion.

Rebirth communicates the cycles present in nature, symbolising that ends merely bring about even more beautiful beginnings.

This collection has been made ppossible through the collaboration with an Australina artist who created a textured painting for Rebirth, which now forms the beautiful print that features throughout in various colourways. It was important that the painting was an organic representation of nature, representing Rebirth while leaving room for questioning and interpretation by the observer.

Keeping in mind the impacts the fashion industry has on the environment, this collection aims to keep the entire design process as ethical and sustainable as possible. Designed with recycling and reusing in mind, the fabrications are able to be separated and put into various textile waste recycling streams at the end of it’s life.

Market Placement TARGET MARKET The target market is women aged between 18 – 40 who are kind and compassionate, caring about global sustainable issues focusing on the environment and communities. They are successful leaders in their work field and inspire others to dream big. These women have a profound spiritual and self-development understanding, and they are always looking for ways to expand their consciousness and learn. They care about the clothing they buy, however, with more of a focus on how the clothing makes them feel rather than how the garment looks.

DEMOGRAPHICS ~ Women aged between 18 – 40 years old ~ They enjoy spending Sunday afternoons reading books, watching rom-com movies and listening to music ~ Love going to a quiet café and work on their business/career projects ~ Their clothing style is feminine and minimalistic; the value for them is in the details, quality and sustainability of the garments ~ Constantly listening to self-development podcasts and are interested in any medium that provides them with an opportunity to learn and discover something new about themselves ~ They are committed hard workers who are trying to make their mark in the world by having a positive

impact on communities and the environment ~ Successful entrepreneurs and influencers who have created a following through some form of teaching/

coaching solutions for their customers

Texture Development FABRIC MANIPULATION Fabric manipulations were trialled throughout the design process with the aim of bringing an added element of life to the collection. Sticking with the rebirth theme, I experimented with how I could create a texture that would compliment the print. Using the leaf shape, I used gathering techniques to create the texture, which was them sewn onto the garments.

Print Development ARTWORK The print featured throughout the collection was created from a commissioned artwork by Australian abstract artist Amy Lockwood (Amy Lockwood Art). The painting was then digitally edited into a print of three varying colourways for the Rebirth collection. The print is an abstract, organic representation of nature, leaving room for personal interpretation.
