Tess works at The National Gallery of Victoria where she’s the senior programming coordinator, focusing on new and innovative public programs. George is a surgical resident at The Royal Melbourne Hospital located in Parkville. An easy commute from the newly bought residence. The couple both have a passion for art and love to attend classes at Melbourne studio of Art. George says it’s a great detoxing activity after a 15-hour shift and stressful day at work. They are wanting this federation home to be their family residence in which they can grow their family and create a loving and safe home. They want to create an interior space that’s inviting, enticing and an area where they can entertain and communicate with guests.

The new owners of 6 Mozart St, St Kilda, are newly wed couple Tess and George. They have a love for heritage architectural designs, a unique passion for art and love to explore concepts that trigger an emotive feeling. Whether it’s through colour, style, configuration or texture.

6 Mozart St, St Kilda is a residential home located in the heart of Melbourne. It is a one level, double bricked, federation home situated near St Kilda botanical gardens. The recent owners, a newly wed couple Tess and George, who have a love for heritage architectural designs and a unique passion for art, are ones for exploring concepts in which trigger an emotive feeling, whether it’s through colour, style, configuration or texture. The concept for this years signature project revolves around the work of artists and the motive behind every art work and how one displays their love and passion for art. Through the exploration of textures, Tess and George what a home that attracts individuals to feel the various materiality throughout the home. An artist they both love and who is a local Melbourne artist is Eleanor Millard. Eleanor focuses on the natural world, with prime focus on the ethereal landscapes. Her creation of textures include the inclusion of crushed blacks and blue/ green washes which ultimately produce the subtle contrasts and tones her distinctive works are renowned for. Jess and Tom admire the abstract art Eleanor conveys and how she connects art with coastal landscapes, rural landscapes and the integration within communities. With an natural feel for texture and method, whether on paper or canvas, Millard’s work is subtle yet strongly expressive. The couple want to include this idea of expressionism through their own art, displaying it throughout their home, connecting the indoors with the out forming a bond. Allowing each room within the house to tell a story through texture, art and furniture pieces.
