Christian Christian Dior Dior Christian Dior was a French fashion designer born January 21st, 1905 in Granville, France. He founded one of the worlds top fashion houses known to be Christian Dior. Dior became particularly famous due to his chic tailoring and suiting, however on the 12th of February, 1947, he debuted his haute couture collection in Paris. It was his bar suit that became to be one of Dior’s most recognised pieces, entailing rounded shoulders and a cinched waist emulating a feminine silhouette. After his deathin1957hisformerassistantYvesSaint Laurent lead Dior, followed by Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferre, John Galliano, Bill Gaytten, Raf Simmons and finallyMariaGraziaChiuri,makingherthe first female creative director of the brand.

Maria Grazia Chiuri Maria Grazia Chiuri is the first female creative direction of Dior. Some underlying themes of her work include feminism alongside a relaxed bohemian style, yet she also ensures to always pay homage to past Dior codes such as focusing on silhouettes and/or Christian Dior’s love for spirituality, seen by her use of tarot cards in her spring 2021 Dior haute couture collection.

DEVON LEE Carlson, age 26, is the co-founder of Wildflower Cases now known globally around the world. Her cases have been seen on the phones of Bella Hadid, Miley Cyrus, Emma Chamberlain, Dua Lipa and more.

Carlson also got her first fashion styling role, styling Olivia Rodrigo for her recent music video, ‘Good 4 u’. She has made countless appearances on Vogue from what she wears in a week to getting ready with her for the YSL fall 2020 show.

Carlson is also a major advocate for designer brands having been paid to advertise for Balenciaga, Versace and Burberry only to name a few. Vogue has since named her an ‘it girl with ease’.

In Maria Grazia Chiuri’s 2018 ready to wear collection, denim is a major feature she incorporates within her designs. She here used denim to tackle the idea of feminism and the theory that ‘women can do both’. It was Chiruri’s way of making a statement and refurbishing the brand to have no more ‘flirty Jolie Madames in pastel cocktail suits’ (Vogue, 2017). Therefore Denim within Dior is ultimately incredibly influential as it is innovative and fresh.

Maria Grazia Chiuri is known for some of her more bohemian style clothing, therefore at times she incorporates floral into her designs notably in her spring/ summer 2020 collection. She told Vogue that she always looks for inspiration in the heart of the past fashion house, referencing Dior’s old love for his French garden, alongside his younger sister Catherines’ old work as a gardener.

The Dior resort collection 2020 has multiple prints within the collection which allows it to have this particular havoc, yet they have used a consistant colour scheme and printing which allows for balance within the campaign.

My ambassador Devon Lee Carlson's style, courtesy of Vogue, is described as reflective of her 'multifaceted career', therefore she moves from 'sportier fare to ultra-feminine style with ease'.

The Dior campaigns photographer is Brigitte Niedermair, however Devon Lee Carlson does not always work with a specific photographer.

One model used was Adesuwa Aighewi who in 2018 was named 'breakout star of the year' by models.com.

The campaign itself is aimed towards an older market demographic due to the older patterned style and darker colour scheme. My ambassadors target market however is those aged between 18-25. My ambassador aligns with the legacy of Dior as they are all about prints and styling lots of them in one look, Carlson enjoys doing the exact same thing. Carlson all gets payed often to advertise for luxury brands such as Versace, Burberry and Louis Vuitton, therefore Carlson would be perfectly suited for this new campaign.

A LINE SKIRT

Another theme Chiuri utilises is the A-line skirt to create a certain silhouette. This silhouette allows women to be cinched in at the waist whilst the fabric slowly widens towards the hem creating this idea of a captial 'A'. This was originally created by Christian Dior himself in 1955 as a way to eccentuate the female body and perhaps Dior’s way of appreciating it.
