Lucy Bourne Echoes of Grandeur

creative biography
Lucy Bourne
Lucy Bourne is a Melbourne-based emerging fashion designer whose work reflects a refined balance between artistic innovation, technical precision and timeless luxury. Raised on a rural farm before relocating to the city, Lucy developed a deep respect for traditional craftsmanship and natural materials. Her commitment and expertise in wool fabrication was recognised through an Australian Wool Educational Trust Grant. With a commitment to sustainable luxury and conceptual depth, Lucy’s work reinterprets tradition through modern experimentation, exploring the dialogue between architectural structure and fluid drapery. With a design philosophy of fashion as a form of wearable architecture, Lucy Bourne represents the next generation of Australian fashion design, one that respects the past, commands the present and dreams fearlessly of the future.

concept Statement ‘echoes of Grandeur’
‘Echoes of Grandeur’ womenswear collection redefines the relationship between fashion and architecture through the language of form, silhouette and structure. Grounded in the precision of Baroque architectural principles, the collection translates the grandeur and symmetry of these historical movements into refined tailoring and sculptural design. Through exaggerated proportions and sculptural volume the collection challenges conventional silhouettes to evoke a sense of timeless monumentality.
Crafted from 100% wool fabrications, each piece showcases advanced tailoring and draping techniques that sculpt the body with architectural precision. Elongated lines, contoured forms and exaggerated proportions balance restraint and volume, creating harmony between construct and movement.
A refined palette of black, ivory, grey and taupe, enhances the purity of line and the sculptural clarity of each silhouette. The Autumn / Winter collection speaks to a modern woman who values craftsmanship, innovation and timeless design. Ultimately, ‘Echoes of Grandeur’ articulates a design philosophy that transcends time, where the discipline of architecture meets the freedom of form.
