CONCEPT

The restaurant is a multi-sensory journey inspired by the culture and symbols of the three regions of Vietnam, where the past and the future meet in the same space.

The winding lines evoke the Mekong River and the Western lotus lagoon, blending with the golden colour and Hue court patterns, while the faint smoke brings the breath of the Northwest mountains.

During the day, the material reflects light to create a splendour, blooming like a festival of the heritage.

When night falls, the space changes - the light of oil lamps, smoke and low sounds lead guests into the ancestral world, where memories and roots are awakened.

In the boundary between tradition and contemporary, the restaurant becomes the gateway to rebirth of the Vietnamese spirit in the new future

BRIEF

QUESTION

How can the quintessence of Vietnam touch the hearts of the world, even when the geographical distance is endless?

BRIEF

The project is to design a Vietnamese restaurant in Australia, with the aim of bringing diners not only a complete culinary experience but also a journey to explore the depth of Vietnamese culture. The space is conceived as a “gate” opening up the image of traditional Vietnam through multi-sensory experiences in a contemporary context. Here, the past is recreated through the lens of the future, helping cultural heritage become closer and more attractive in an international environment.

CLIENT

International guests who want to experience Vietnamese culture in a sophisticated and artistic way. Vietnamese community in Australia.

CUSTOM LIGHTING

In terms of design, the lamp shape is inspired by the Ba Tầmwwww hat (traditional Vietnamese flat palm hat) - a typical cultural image of Vietnam.

The light fixture is inspired by the traditional Vietnamese ‘Ngũ Hổ’ (FIVE TIGERS) painting, a signature motif of the Hàng Trống folk art style. It is crafted from CNC-cut metallic materials to reinterpret the visual language of this iconic artwork. Symbolically, it embodies the balanced energy of the Five Elements while reflecting the cultural and spiritual depth of Vietnamese folk beliefs.

CUSTOM LIGHTING

The light design is inspired by traditional decorative motifs on sedge mats, a distinctive cultural symbol of Vietnam. The material and form are crafted from CNC metal, and the lamp is placed inside.

CUSTOM RECEPTION

The reception desk is inspired by the rocks in the northwest mountains. In addition, each stone creates layers of inspiration from the terraced fields typical of the northwest. The materials used are microcement and glass, creating a feeling that is both sturdy like a rock and as airy as clouds and fog in the highlands.
