2020 has been a year of observing the outdoors from our windows within our homes. We have been unable to leave the couch.

Summer is on the horizon and its time to take our couches with us and hit the beach so we can get back to enjoying our Australian landscapes.

Your fashion is very in theme with the skate culture aesthetic, what/ who is your inspiration?

I wouldn’t say I have one soul inspiration, in my eyes the whole community influences me, skater attire is clothing that is practical yet so unique. In a way you’ll never see two skaters wearing identical outfits everyone has their own spin on the aesthetic this is what I admire so much about skate culture.

It makes me feel calm, like i can finally take that big breath of relief that i needed. Breathing in as the tide comes in and out as the water rushes away again.

Ella, 19 What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think about skate culture?

I see skate culture as a way of self expression and inclusion.

Not only is the art of skateboarding courageous, but the culture encompasses this through their rebellious fashion. The alternative look captures the true essence of skate culture, which allows people to express their individuality with like minded people.

Brooke, 19 What memories does the beach atmosphere bring you and or how does it make u feel?

It made me feel back at home because I grew up in QLD and have so much family there that whenever I spend time near the beach I remember myself as a kid and spending time with family. The beach makes me feel relaxed.

Chloe Skye is a Sydney based creative direction, photographer and illustrator with a unique motif to her design work. The beach atmosphere was an appreciated landscape in her world and while studying at Whitehouse Institute of Design she discovered her design style by involving her own personal life in a unique way to her art. She applies her personal style to her location photography and hand and digital illustrations in a creative format to produce a fun flowing concept. Her main focus is expressing an emotion of out of placement and an appreciation to our Australian landscapes while involves fashion and design.
