Statement: In the midst of pandemic, I am referred to the colour red. The updates in the news, the lights of the sirens and this red door; the thing dividing me from the rest of the world. The colour defines action and vitality, yet it is also used to adjourn, portray pain and death. A balance between the elegant volume of life happening elsewhere, and the static pause and decay of here.

For the Resort collections of 2022, a common theme was the celebration and reopening of the world. For Louis Vuitton’s optimistic Resortwear collection Nicolas Ghesquière explored the idea of Space Tourism, an exploration beyond the stars. Adding jubilance through the, silk bouses with cape-like features and high waisted trousers. (Phelps, 2021)

Whilst the trends from the 2022 Resort collections were considered the contrast was made in the direction and mood of Rouge. In 2020 Rick Owens showcased his collection; Phlegethon. a depiction of his percieved world during the presidential race, signs of irreversible global warming and the pandemic. (Phelps, 2020) Using the colour red, Rouge is the depiction of the grey area between life and death; present in my world.
