“Growing up surfing, I learned how strong I am. Being a girl in a male dominated lineup was tough, but my passion and drive pushed me to prove myself, even at the scariest breaks. It’s shaped who I am today. ”
“The beach was basically our backyard. We were in the water from the moment we could swim, and the ocean’s been apart of our lives for as long as we can remember.”
“The competitive energy between Blaze and me pushed me harder than any surfer ever could.”
“Growing up by the ocean has been the best childhood I could have ever asked for. I’ve learned to appreciate the little things and not take anything for granted.”

EDITORS NOTE
While working on this editorial, I kept returning to the place that shaped me: Newcastle. Aqua Vitae is my way of translating that feeling into a fashion and lifestyle editorial. I explore how water can hold identity, emotion, and movement. The three chapters each reflect a different aspect. Bathing Beauties captures the nostalgia of a 1960’s inspired morning swim, a moment that feels refreshing and sets the tone for the day. Swell Sisters is an interview style editorial with surfers, Hunter and Blaze Roberts,
whose connection to the ocean embodies the Newcastle surf Lifestyle. Their stories and the accompanying images captures sisterhood, surf culture, and retro vibes. The final chapter moves into interpreting the curves, currents, and textures of water through garments, silhouettes, and compositions. As a creative, my work is shaped by memories of the ocean, its colours, patterns, and the way it makes me feel. These influences have guided every part of this editorial. Aqua Vitae is more than a visual project; it’s a reflection of where I come from, what inspires me, and how I see the world.
