IND is a multifaceted collection that utilised many unconventional and juxtaposing materials and ideologies.

The hero design consists of a frilled, a-line dress with a floral skirt with a lace frilled bodice and snakeskin embroidered mesh overlay. This look also includes a black rope, knitted skirt with industrialised straps.

The fashion of the Puritan era saw its way into the collection through its intentional modest silhouette. They also didn’t believe in elaborate clothing and decoration and also stuck to a neutral colour palette ( Myers, 2017). In the manner of the collection, the modesty of the high necklines and long sleeves are then contrasted with the fetishised rope structure and darker colour palette. Another nod to the modest nature of the puritan life was their strong ties to religion. The motif of the snake and florals is based on the story of Adam and Eve and also provides us with the juxtaposition of the soft, nature of the flowers with the dominance of the snake. The rope and mesh aspects of the collection bring forward an industrial vibe to the dainty florals and lace trim.

The silhouettes in this collection are inspired not only by the thematic research but also by current trends in women’s fashion. Currently, we are seeing a massive trend of expressiveness and detailing through print, colour, and design details (Vasesi, 2022).

Simone Rochas Fall 2021 Ready-To-Wear collection also utilised the theme of juxtaposing elements in not only subject matter but a silhouette.

“Fragile rebels. It’s about being very protective and hiding the fragility— then having a flower creeping through the collection” - (Mower, 2021)

The colour palette utilised in this collection is mainly black, white and beige with selected hints of bright orange and deep emerald. The duality of this collection is not for the faint of heart, It was designed and curated for the person who wants to stand out from the crowd.
