Ebony is a Sydney-based designer who has a passion for the art of interior design. Throughout her life, Ebony has been surrounded by inspiring architecture and design, influencing her journey into the art.

Ebony’s design philosophy transcends the traditional boundaries of aesthetics, blending functionality with beauty to create spaces that not only look extraordinary but also serve as a reflection of the client’s personality and lifestyle.

AN AMAN PARTNER RESORT Aman currently embraces thirty-four resorts and residences located in holistically and organically involved environments yielding serenity. The opportunity for expansion is evident within Australasia particularly the gentrifying, luxury location of Queenstown, New Zealand.

Ataahua by Aman will embody the heritage and original elders of New Zealand emphasisng the preeminent landscape and scenery. Naturally and ethically sourced materials will be integrated with priority on products manufactured in New Zealand.

The resort structure will constitute a ‘pod’ system as rooms with private access and amenities including spa, and views to New Zealand’s ski fields, Coronet Peak and the Remarkables.

Aiming to induce comfort and relaxation, the main ‘lodge’ is available to all guests indulging state of the art facilities including restaurant, bar, cinema, drying room, day spa/ massage parlour and fitness centre.

Guests will additionally receive the opportunity of private transfers, helicopter access for avid heli skiers and ski equipment storage facilities.

HISTORY Growing up, New Zealand was a second home to me. It was there that I learnt to snow ski; being all of three-years-old, my dad confidently put me on skis, and I’ve loved it ever since. From there, every year, we would ski, and I am fortunate to have skied around the world, however New Zealand has kept a special place in my heart.

The Attahua by Aman ski resort will embody everything I love about skiing, from coming off the mountain after a long day on the slopes into the warmth of a fireplace to having mulled wines in surrounding rustic and comforting interiors.

The natural elements integrated into New Zealand interior design and architecture encapsulate these feelings and contribute to the heartfelt experience. From natural minerals such as schist, timber and stone to high vaulted ceilings, the picture starts to come to fruition.

The New Zealand landscape has been my overall inspiration for this project from undulating hills and rocky mountain faces, it is a scene of beauty that words cannot describe.

ataahua by Aman (1) stative: to be beautiful Nestled at the junction of untold wilderness and coveted lived experience, Ataahua by Aman ushers in the serenity of the unexplored and undisturbed, encapsulating beauty in an aura of silence disturbed only by the slightest movements of mountaintop snow. Within its design comes enshrined the untold stories of a thriving natural spirit borne upon the culture, community and nature inherent to New Zealand, an ethereal, intangible and inimitable experience emulated by many but ultimately delivered as an intimate experience at Ataahua.

The resort draws on and emphasises the inherent affinity of nature towards absolving subconscious tensity, developing a primal allure to which guests will be exclusively privy. The experience of Ataahua offers an opportune transition from the stress of the everyday into a timeless state of uncomplicated calm.

ANALYSIS Queenstown is situated in the South

island of New Zealand and within the

Central Otago region. Lakes and rivers

surround the location with high density

flora and fauna as well as some of the

worlds most pitched mountains. The

climate is consistent with that of a

very distinct summer and winter with

temperatures as low as -10o in winter and 30o in summer. Furthermore, the

prevailing winds are dominant from

the west in the region circulating from

Antarctica. The areas of low pressure in

the region cause cloud and rain develop

ment. The gentrification in Queenstown

has successfully established many award

winning cafes, restuarants, wineries,

hotels and ski fields. With surrounding

locations such as Arrowtown, Wanaka and Cadrona.

RECEPTION

The reception encapsulates a warm cabin like feel with incorporated seating for guests checking in and a double entry to prevent excess wind through the space.

The entry is also complete with seats for guests to remove their ski boots to give to concierge.

The key element in this space is the Bocci light feature which will be seen from both the North-East and the South entries. The Bocci 56 Copper Series stands as a testament to innovative light design. The Bocci light is complemented by the Artemest rug inspired by Colorado history and a Peter Lubach statue.

The dining room encapsulates the New Zealand landscape, with windows and doors surrounding the space facing to Queenstown’s famous Coronet Peak ski mountain.

The comfort of this space is encapsulated by larger style lounge chairs and extensive rugs.

The lounge is where the heart of the resort resides. The double sided Stoke fireplace is complete with two separate lounge rooms both including couches, lounge chairs and coffee tables. This space was designed to be a relaxing location for guests after their long ski day.

This shape is completed with luxury seating design including Artemest bar chairs and Eames lounge chairs. The key feature in this space is the wine storage designed

by Living Edge.

The patio designed for the summer months in New Zealand is complete with lounge facilities and fireplaces. The layout of the patio evokes a sense of relaxation for guests and allows them to look to the view whilst doing so.

The guest residences are designed as a “pod” style system featuring a lounge, walk in wardrobe and bathroom for each side. With two rooms per “pod” four guests can be in each pod at one time. If guests choose to have a whole pod, there is an interconnecting door available. Each room also features a deck with views to Coronet Peak and private spa.
