Bodacious was inspired by the elements and principles of design that were prominent within 80s fashion and styling. The 80s, identified as a bright, bold and an electric decade for fashion, often incorporated styles of oversized polished blazars and shoulder pads to reinforce the concept of power dressing. Due to the rise in consumption of Nike products an increase in athletsuire wear occurred during the late 1980s resulting in an increase in sports wear such as biker shorts, tights and windproof tracksuit sets.
Bodacious, the two piece collection includes a boxy, oversized shacket inspired by the 80s style blazer with an oversized set in sleeve and band collar. The collection also includes a pair of tailored shorts aiming to achieve a contemporary portrayal of the 80s biker shorts. The collection has been accessorised with a denim bucket hat and detailed denim belt bag to further dramatise the look. Bodacious aims to achieve all three primary colours within the colour palette through using saturated hues of red, yellow and denim to communicate blue. Bodacious aims to represent loose luxury through incorporating a loose and oversized shirt silhouette. In a similar way the tailored shorts will communicate luxury through having a sleek and refined silhouette. Bodacious aims to convey the hallmarks of luxury through the inclusion of excess fabric, excess design details including the pockets. Craftmanship has also been involved in creating the design details such as quilting and textural details on the hat and belt bag. Bodacious is designed for a bold and confirdent young women between the age of 18-30 with a playful personality who works within an artistic and fashionable industry. The collection aims to be sold at Net-a-porta for 147 euro (wholesale) and 294 euro (retail), whereby the collection will be sat next to brands such as Stella Mccartney.
