The Denim Field Resort 2023 collection has been inspired by Ian Berry’s Secret Garden art installation of denim flower arrangements. I have been inspired to create my own floral arrangements with in my own spring collection
The collection will feature two main primary colours including blue and yellow. These colours will be used to create a floral button up shirt with oversided ruched sleeves. A convertible skort that can be worn as a pair of shorts, a skirt or together. A denim pullover with denim floral applique will also be apart of this collection, with open side seams and capped sleeves. The collection title ‘The Denim Field” has been derived from the idea of a field of flowers, however being made from different layers of denim. This “field of denim flowers” will be seen on the denim pullover. These flowers will be made from upcycled denim - including sustainability into the design. Another “field of flowers” will be included in the bodice of the shirt.
These flowers will be a range of different shades of yellow linen and cotton attached to the body of the shirt. The main body of the shirt will be a white cotton sateen. These flowers will fray and add another texture to the collection. The collection is a very feminine take on what would be the classic men’s shirt and shorts; by incorporating the extreme ruched sleeve, pin tucks on the bodice, a tie collar, as well as the implementation of floral patterns. And of course, the complementing accesories. This collection will make the wearer feel confident and powerful, whilst looking very delicate and feminine on their vacations and when working.
MARKET PLACEMENT The Denim Field Resort 2023 collection targets young, wealthy women aged between 18 and 25, who are living in the Soho district of London, England. These women spend their days travelling throughout Europe and to tropical places, spending their money on extravagant trips to escape the English weather. The garments within the collection have been created to be worn as one outfit, however they can be worn as individual items, making this collection versatile and a travel staple. The shirt itself is a statement with the voluminous sleeves and a unique tactile floral pattern on the body, selling at a RRP of 1050 pounds. The skort can be separated and worn as a short or a skirt making it a valuable closet staple, selling at a RRP for 520 pounds. The floral denim pullover – also a statement with its many flowers and capped sleeves can also be worn to add a textural element to any outfit, selling at a RRP of 775 pounds. Perfect for the young Soho Woman. The Denim Field Resort 2023 will be sold in Liberty London, a store renowned for its floral prints that they sell along with a select range of luxury designer items. The 2023 collection will retail alongside the likes of Ganni and Acne Studios.
