Tea at Tarantula’s a.f.

Arabel Foster is a multidisciplinary designer who is due to complete her Bachelor of Design at Whitehouse Institute of Design in 2021. Arabel has established a versatile multimedia design aesthetic that aims to romanticise the mundane through elements of anomaly and hyperrealism. Inspired by her upbringing on the South Coast, where much of her childhood was spent immersed in the natural landscapes, Arabel has a deep love for flora, fauna, and organic forms.

These closely intertwined traits are often present in Arabel’s work, enabling her to create playful narratives that uphold her personal design philosophy.

With an expanse of interests and inspirations, Arabel is committed to

her

continual growth and development as a designer. She consistently finds fascination in the elements of her day to day life, and strives to use these to enrich her design process. Arabel’s whimsical and unique style has a contemporary finish that would make her a valuable addition to any team.

The proposed narrative, ‘Tea at Tarantula’s’, embraces Arabel’s whimsical style

and true nature as a maximalist. It follows her beloved cat, Tarantula, and his two feline friends, Tinkerbell and Puska Meyer, as they prepare for their tea time. Through the use of repeated motifs, such as cats and florals, Arabel has expressed a handful of her deep passions in order to create a personal and extensive reflection of her current design style. Her employment of the elements and principles of design have been used by Arabel in conjunction with anomaly to create a quirky “story book” that allows the viewer to escape into a dreamlike fantasy.
