CONCEPT STATEMENT Tellurian. A collection largely inspired by self-awareness, a true reality, and the unpredictability of life. It demonstrates the art of the earth’s natural form that was deprived from society during an unforeseeable pandemic. The collection consists of a three hero body looks that all define the idea of tellurian through the story of design. The first hero body embodies a bright shade of yellow, describing the light that brightens nature, also brightening up the personality of the collection. The fabric is dyed in turmeric, a flowering plant and consists of organic fibers such as linen and silk, relating to the nature of earth. The second body depicts form through the structure of silhouette as well as the positioning of the texture applique. By positioning the textures through line and direction, the garment is suddenly given life and is able to tell a story based on the finer details. The third body is designed to capture the layers of the earth. By using the organic spice paprika to naturally dye the linen, silk organza, colours of deep pink appear relating to the deep layers of the earths core. The design of the texture applique of each garment expresses the shift in the earths form and how that has created a shift within the balance of life. The colour palette embodies the earths rich yellows, reds and shades of ivory that can be seen in the deepest parts of the earth and bouncing off the reflection of the sun. Using elements and principles of design such as line and direction, movement, space, colour and form, the collection is able to encapsulate and bring a part of our connection to the earth through design. This collection is aimed towards an audience of young adult to adult women who share a love for timelessness, dramatic silhouette and vivid tones that drape over the body.
