Concept Statement

The concept on this collection derives from nature with the star shining bright in the night sky, that has been imitated in human nature with tall buildings reflecting on the water at night. The hero garment for this collection is a long straight cut form fitting dress that is off the shoulder and has a cut out on the side. It is made from a navy-coloured velvet that is used throughout the garment with a stretch lining. For this collection the colour palette is monochromatic with it being all blue starting from navy and slowly gradating to a light blue garment at the end. The trend research that helped curate this collection was Elie Saab Fall RTW 2021, Elie Saab Spring

Couture 202, Elie Saab PreFall RTW 202 and Mônot RTW SS 2021. These designs are all similar yet different from the silhouette of some garments to the colours of another, to the styling and photography of the collection. These are shown throughout the collection with the style lines to the colour.

The target audience for this collection are teenagers and young adults that wish to purchase an elegant garment that keeps up with the trends yet also has a twist on it. The designs are quite generic as they aren’t entirely new designs yet, they are tweaked and changed around to seem new to capture a new audience.
