The Concept
Blooming explores the delicate beauty of femininity and florals. It intertwines these delicacies together to embody the essence of femininity. The collection consists of three dress bodies that feature forms of two distinctive flower species; lily and jasmine. Each flower symbolises some facets of femininity. The lily flower represents grace, and life (Clacy, 2022). The Jasmine flower represents modesty, and love (Stanton, 2021). These blooms are represented through the incorporation of their structural elements such as the 3D flower and petal shapes, where curvy structure highlights floral forms and women’s curvaceous structure. The curvy structures can also be seen within panel and seam lines. Denim fabrication is used to further represent femininity through representing rebellion to social and gender expectations referencing the 1960s feminist activism for gender equality (French, 2024). Furthermore Denim also represents environmental
sustainability and preservation. The denim fabrication consists of frayed edges along petal lines and sleeve hems. The deep colour palette of blues symbolises freedom, confidence and intelligence (Super color digital, 2020), depicting the multifaceted nature of womanhood. This collection is targeted for 17-30 year old stylish women seeking high-ended fashion and structural statement pieces. They are aimed at women striving to be courageous, spontaneous, elegant, and bold. Overall, Blooming weaves together florals and femininity, producing a harmonious collection that expresses the essence of womanhood—inviting women to celebrate their individuality while also connecting to a women’s collaborative legacy of strength and beauty. It encourages women to relive whimsical emotions of womanhood. Blooming pays homage to the timeless spirit of femininity and womanhood, captured in the delicate petals of nature’s most iconic blooms.
