Every community is full of hidden gems - from local businesses and restaurants to a wide range of annual festivals and community celebrations. Events such as farmers markets, art fairs, music festivals, parades and community festivals like Manitou Days and Vadnais Heights Days bring the community together during the summer. In the winter, residents can venture out to the various parks and trails located around the community or take a brief drive to one of the five alpine ski resorts in the area.
When there is not a large community festival going on, residents can attend a show at the Hanifl Performing Arts Center, take an art class, participate in library programs and spend a day at one of the beaches surrounding White Bear Lake. There is plenty available to keep you busy all year round in the various communities.
As always, readers should check their

We at Press Publications look forward to spending another year covering all the hidden gems your community has to offer.

While strolling through downtown, why not take a minute to stop and take in some of the area’s art and culture offerings? From theaters to art centers, the average resident or tourist will be hard-pressed to find anything that doesn’t entice their creativity
Some of the best local art is on display at the White Bear Lake Center for the Arts. The center features different exhibitions throughout the year featuring genres like painting, mixed media and photography. By taking various classes, members can learn to perfect certain mediums and gain the joy of learning something new. More information on membership and upcoming center events is available on the website at www.whitebeararts. org.
The Hanifl Performing Arts Center, home to Lakeshore Players, is a major treat for
theatergoers and performers alike. Attendees will delight in seeing favorite works transformed into lavish stage productions performed with a punch well above typical community presentations. The theater is also the home of Children’s Performing Arts, crafted for grades K-12 to learn the ropes of acting and stage production.
Among the newest additions to the city’s “art district” is the annual Bald Eagle Art Crawl, held around the lake each midSeptember. The crawl features dozens of artists, both established and aspiring, presenting their creations to curious onlookers and craftwork aficionados. This year, the crawl’s founders have created Bald Eagle Arts, a nonprofit that allows them to “expand their efforts to bring even more art, creativity and connection to the community.”
The Fillebrown House, located on the shore of White Bear Lake, offers a fascinating glimpse into local history dating back to the late 19th century. For decades, the city’s historical society has worked to ensure its preservation. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. Tours and special events are held regularly throughout the year, helping keep the public connected to a long-past era. Soon to open will be the McNeely Music Center, a nonprofit offering music lessons, recording capabilities and performance space for musicians. The center will feature two recording drum booths and two recording studios, as well as control rooms designed to create high-quality audio recordings. The lobby will be complete with a grand piano acting as both a reception and recital area.
The White Bear Lake area offers plenty of opportunities and fun things to do, all within an hour’s drive. Please call or check the websites we provide for the following listings before you go, as some locations may be closed and/or activities canceled.

It’s been one year since we moved into our new home filled with excitement, ambition, and a vision for growth. Today, as we celebrate this milestone, we want to take a moment to reflect, express gratitude, and share what’s ahead for our journey.
First and foremost, we want to thank our clients and community for standing by us. Your continued loyalty and encouragement have made all the difference during this first year. Moving into a new space is always a challenge, but your support has been the foundation that kept us moving forward.

We also want to be transparent about the challenges we’ve faced. Product availability has not always been consistent, and we know that may have caused inconvenience. For that, we sincerely apologize. Rebuilding supply chains and restoring consistency is a process that takes time, but we are fully committed to getting back to normal and providing the reliable experience you deserve.
This anniversary is not just a marker of where we’ve been, but also a launchpad for where we’re going. We’re focused on strengthening operations, expanding offerings, and creating a smoother experience for every client who walks through our doors. Growth is never a straight path, but each step brings us closer to building something truly lasting.
As part of our long-term vision, we are opening the door for private investors who want to grow alongside us. We are offering abovemarket returns on investment (ROI) and the chance to partner in building a business designed for stability, impact, and shared success.

One year in, we are proud of how far we’ve come, but even more excited about the road ahead. Together—with our clients, community, and future partners—we are building not just a business, but a future.
Thank you for being part of our story. Here’s to many more years of growth, opportunity, and shared success.

In the heart of White Bear Lake lie many cafe options for residents and visiting guests to check out, grab a bite and get a drink.
At Keys Cafe, freshly made delicacies are always available. Each meal is made from scratch with fresh ingredients. These include classic egg-based breakfasts, specialty sandwiches, appetizer bowls and pasta creations. The cafe also boasts a 12-person bakery staff that makes its treats from scratch, including sheet cakes, fruit, specialty pies and round cakes.
Ingredients Cafe, located next to Cup n’ Cone, boasts an equally extensive array of specialties, including Alaskan halibut, Mongolian pork chops and lemon caper chicken penne. Owner and
head chef Ben Pratt is notable for being the winner of Minnesota’s 2006 Chaine des Rotisseurs Young Chef Cooking Challenge. The cafe also features live music from local bands and artists on select dates throughout the year.
For those who prefer gluten-free breakfast and lunch options, Cafe Cravings has them covered. Like Keys, each dish is prepared from scratch using fresh ingredients, including the cafe’s variety of bakery and dessert choices. A large patio with a fountain is available for diners to relax and eat during the summer, while an outdoor fireplace will keep them cozy and warm in the winter. Additionally, free wireless internet is available all year round.
For low-key coffeehouse vibes,
look no further than the Anchor Coffee House in Washington Square. In addition to standard drinks, the house also offers unique seasonal concoctions, including Honey Lavender Shaken Espresso and Brown Cow Cold Brew, as part of its summer lineup. Since its 2018 debut at the State Fair, the house has also carried its signature mini donut latte for customers to try. Edible treats, such as gluten-friendly banana chocolate chip muffins, are also available for sale.
Nowhere in downtown White Bear Lake is there a shortage of dining options to enjoy. From small-scale coffee shops to large-scale cafes, there’s always something around the corner for everyone.

The Met Council, established by the state Legislature in 1967, coordinates planning and development within the sevencounty Twin Cities metropolitan area. The council works with local communities to operate the region’s largest bus system, collect and treat wastewater, engage communities and the public in planning for future growth, provide forecasts of the region’s population and household growth, provide affordable housing opportunities, provide planning, acquisitions and funding for a regional system of parks and trails, and provide a framework for decisions and implementation for regional services including aviation, transportation, parks and open space, water quality and water management. Governance: The 17-member Met Council has 16 members who each represent a geographic district and one chairman, Charlie Zelle, who serves at-large. They all are appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the governor. The state Senate confirms council member appointments.
