by Renee McGivern Contributing Writer

Looking for a lovely summer getaway to enjoy award-winning wines and food? Head to the Dancing Dragonfly Winery in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, an hour north of the east metro area of the Twin Cities. It’s open seven days a week from noon to 7 p.m. unless an event is scheduled. You’ll feel like you’ve escaped to another world as you drive through the entrance gate and are enveloped by 52 acres of grapevines as you drive toward the impressive tasting building. You’ll sit outside to enjoy your wine, food, and conversation in a truly relaxing setting.

“We handcraft every wine we sell at Dancing Dragonfly Winery, using a variety of grapes from both the Midwest and the coast,” said Bill Bluhm, who owns and operates the winery with his wife, Christine. “And we’re proud that we were awarded ‘Cold Climate Winery of the Year’ from the International Cold Climate Wine Competition in 2019.” In addition, the vineyard’s Ballet wine was awarded Double Gold – 94 points, from the 2019 San Francisco International Wine Competition and White Wine of the Year at the 2019 Indy International Wine Competition Or Lindy, rated 98. The food selections are exceptional, too: • Hand-crafted pizza, oven-baked cheeses and pretzels • Panini and baguette sandwiches, and wraps • Flatbread with dips • Bruschetta • Small plates, and • Desserts.
