I
n stressful times, few pleasures are more valuable than the chance to sit in a calm, peaceful atmosphere and take a deep breath. Just For Me Spa in Stillwater strives to bring this sense of safety and relaxation to all of its guests. The team at Just For Me works diligently to keep every surface disinfected, and to ensure everyone takes proper social distancing measures and safety precautions. Owner Heidi Rosebud has been running the spa since 1988; during which it has seen many changes. Rosebud’s focus is wellness—created a balanced, healthy lifestyle that suits each individual. As a result, Just For Me’s offerings range across the board, from massages and hairstyling to relaxing soak sessions in mineral pools and salt caves. “All of that works together, in an atmosphere where people can pick and choose what works for them. Everybody wants something different,” Rosebud said.
One of the spa’s most notable experiences is the Himalayan salt cave—a room filled with rejuvenating pink salt that soothes skin and eases respiration. A machine called a halogenerator blows warm salt particles through the air. When this fresh salt air is inhaled, these particles flow through the respiratory system, clearing out bacteria and toxins. The salt is also believed to emit negative ions—charged particles that have been shown to restore energy and boost mood. If you’ve ever sat near flowing water and suddenly felt more energetic, you’ve already felt the positive effects of negative firsthand. “People are so overwhelmed with the computers and fluorescent lighting, and all the things that kind of wear on us every day,” Heidi said. “So being in an environment that gives off that negative ionization, that calming, relaxing, peacefulness, it balances out the body.” Similarly, the mineral pool at Just For Me Spa mimics the natural springs that have been used to benefit health and wellness since ancient times. Another highlighted treatment is Celluma light therapy, which bathes the skin in low-level LED light to tighten and heal. This treatment stimulates the production of estrogen and collagen, which can heal acne, rejuvenate skin, and ease pain. With 20,000 square feet of space, Just For Me Spa allows groups to maintain plenty of social distance while also enjoying each other’s company. The St. Croix Room is a spacious area available for private gatherings such as bachelorette parties, and features a cozy, “up north” atmosphere. “You can comfortably go and receive spa services and be together in an environment that provides social distancing
and yet you’re doing things you want to experience together,” Rosebud said. The charm of Stillwater is on show inside and outside the spa. Just For Me occupies a historic dairy building, which Rosebud and her team transformed into something completely new. The exterior half-log siding is a nod to Stillwater’s early history as a logging community, and the interior walls inside are decorated with expansive murals depicting the peaceful setting of the St. Croix. The range of treatment options allows guests to tailor the experience to their needs and desires. Group packages are available at affordable rates, and add-ons are easily available to make sure every guest gets exactly what they want out of the spa experience. The Serenity Experience, for instance, treats guests to heel to toe foot renewal, followed by a meditative session inside the Himalayan salt cave. For just $10 more, a guest could add on a visit to the healing mineral pool. “So there’s a lot of really great things where you can feel like you’re spending more time actually enjoying the services,” Rosebud said. “And people sometimes just want to sit and relax.” In addition to its many available treatments, Just For Me Spa also offers overnight accommodations in three
turn-of-the-century cottages, located just behind the spa building. These rentals are an attractive draw for groups and families who want to get away from home without the risks of air travel. The homes make for a relaxing “staycation,” giving guests a much-needed change of scenery at a difficult time in our community. “It’s a lot of families and friends that stay in the homes,” Rosebud said. “It’s this time when they can be together and have conversations uninterrupted, and they can cook a meal, stay in. They’re kind of picking a destination and hunkering down and experiencing time with one another. Especially when people have been in their homes for so long—so many of them just need to get out of the house for a weekend.” As the winter season approaches, the restorative warmth of services such as the whirlpool, sauna, and salt cave provide a healing respite away from daily stresses. Dry winter air tends to be harsh on skin, which makes treatments like these an extra health boost. Just For Me has worked hard to create a cozy, comfortable ambiance, and invites guests to spend time relaxing with those who mean the most to you this season. “It’s all about being together with your besties, and a lot of times that includes family,” Rosebud said.
