CIRCLE PINES — Following site plan approval from both the Planning Commission and the City Council, the Anoka County Library Centennial Branch expansion is moving right along and could be completed by this time next year. The current building opened its doors in 1985. For over 10 years, numerous discussions have taken place regarding the library’s expansion either in its current location near City Hall, or at the property purchased near I-35W and the Civic Complex in Lino Lakes near

the Holiday Gas Station. After the Anoka County Library Board of Trustees approved an expansion that will increase the library’s footprint at its current

location from 6,300 square feet to 13,500 square feet, plans have continued to be developed and refined. “The building that we have now is

LINO LAKES — A Lino Lakes resident will join 1,500 other participants in the 2018 Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Muscle Walk of Twin Cities May 5. Jon Bruns, 49, is living with a neuromuscular disease called Beckers muscular dystrophy (BMD). He is participating in the walk for the second year. The annual walk is a meaningful way for families, friends, neighbors and local businesses to raise funds for and critical awareness of muscle-debilitating diseases that severely weaken muscle strength and mobility. “There are kids and adults in our community living with muscular dystrophy and related diseases that take away everyday abilities like walking, hugging and even breathing,” said MDA Fundraising Coordinator Cassandra Rix. “When you support the MDA Muscle Walk of Twin Cities, you can help change that by helping us fund urgently needed research, treatments and support that will help these individuals live longer and grow stronger.” Bruns was diagnosed with BMD around the age of 23. “I started having troubles with things that I didn't have trouble with SEE JOHN BRUNS, PAGE 12
