CIRCLE PINES — Later this spring, children of all ages will have a new destination — just in time for summer vacation.

The Circle Pines Park Board approved a $90,000 upgrade to the park at City Hall April 2. The work will be completed alongside the ongoing expansion of Centennial Library.

“It is really going to be a destination starting this summer. I am looking forward to it being a gem,” said Park Board Member Barb Zorzin.

The current play structure was installed in 1998 and is at the end of its life cycle. Although the park has been on the city’s radar for a couple of years, discussion and planning for its replacement commenced at the beginning of 2019.

Three bids were received for the project, but ultimately the Park Board chose St. Croix Recreation, the same vendor that installed new equipment at Golden Lake Park in 2014.

Zorzin explained that a number of things ultimately swayed the Park Board’s decision,

Blaine business recognized as ‘Rising Star’

When Blaine native Amy Michaels was planning her wedding day with the help of her mother Heidi Mathson, the two were looking for a way to transform an empty hotel conference room into a comfortable and photogenic environment for her big day, but they didn’t have any luck.

“My vision was 10 girls all standing in the bathroom fighting over a mirror, and I thought that was not going to work.” Mathson recalled. “We did a Google search to find out where we could find stuff to rent and we could not find a company that rented the kind of items that we wanted, like a full-length mirror, vanities, seating ... we wanted it to be more of a comfortable environment for the girls because they spend hours there.”

The idea for a business was born. Dream Day Dressing Rooms has been around since November 2016. Mathson, Amy and Amy’s sister-in-law Molly Michaels co-own the business, which is located at 1521 93rd Lane NE, Blaine.

packages, which contain a hair styling station, makeup station, product table for artists, full-length mirror, professional steamer, privacy screen, wardrobe rack, bridal gown holder, sofa or settee, two matching chairs, two accent tables and an area rug. “Some of the packages are modern and some are more traditional,” Amy said.

The Marilyn Suite features hot pink furniture, whereas the Scarlett Suite features red. There is also a package for grooms’ rooms.

“We are unique. It is not just that we rent items, a lot of companies rent items; we try to create an experience,” Mathson explained.

The three ladies enjoy being a part of a happy point in people’s lives. Molly said, “It is fun getting all the pictures back and seeing all of the special moments that were created because of the room they were given.” Amy added, “I am able to solve this problem that I had for other brides that I know are having the same problem. Being able to say, ‘Look, here is your solution,’ that feels pretty great.”

New class builds bridge between early learning and elementary school

Centennial Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is offering a new class that not only aims to prepare students, but also their parents, for the new world of kindergarten.

Gearing Up for Kindergarten is designed for students who will enter kindergarten in the fall and who have no preschool experience. The class runs from February to May, and another session will likely be held again next year.

“It is meant for students who might need more support before they start school, whether that is academic support, social-emotional support, (or) general help with transitions,” explained ECFE/ School Readiness Preschool Coordinator Sarah Holmboe. “We have noticed that some of the students are just needing more confidence in their skills.”

The play-based curriculum for the course was developed at North Dakota State University and explores the topics of literacy skills, reading, writing, math, science, art and the basic foundation of parenting skills such as discipline and communication. For the fi rst half of the class, the parents and children are together; during the last half, they split up.

Every year, Holmboe said there are waitlists for Centennial's preschool programs. “We thought this might be a great way to capture some of those students that either didn't know preschool was an option for them or maybe it wasn't affordable at the time or families moved into the district late,” she said.

Lino Lakes resident Mana Ly decided to enroll her son Zephyr in the course after she read about it in a brochure she received in the mail. “He hasn't been in preschool. I am a stay-at-home mom, so I thought it would be good to get him used to the classroom and being around other adults and listening to them,” she said. “I thought it would be good for him to get used to being away from me.”

Holmboe added, “A lot of parents have said (their children) are ‘at home with me all day, at day care,

with grandma, with the same person Monday through Friday and don't really have exposure to other adults, so getting to know a teacher has been beneficial.’”

In addition, the class can help students who have general anxiety about kindergarten, because it gets them comfortable with the classroom setting. The class is also helpful for parents who are probably just as anxious about sending their little ones off to school.

“It helps them get more comfortable with sending their child to kindergarten and getting some of those big questions answered,” she said. “We get parents information about what they can do at home to help support their child's learning and development as they get into kindergarten and head through elementary school.”

ECFE Parent Educator Elizabeth Sorensen said, “I really think all families and their kids can benefit from this program.” When Sorensen talks with parents, she touches on topics such as temperament, brain development, learning styles and raising a reader.

“Establishing those healthy habits while they are young makes it so much easier because they are already established by the time they get to a more challenging age.”

Councilman leads the charge to ensure accurate census For more information about the upcoming census, visit www.census.gov and fire departments, transportation infrastructure and, of course, state and federal government.

One reason getting an accurate count for cities like Circle Pines is so vital, is that it determines how much Local Government Aid (LGA), community education funding and Trunk Highway Fund and State Aid funding the city receives. “Ten years ago, (our population) fell under 5,000 people even though we know we had more than that. We came in at 4,918,” Mayor Dave Bartholomay explained.

Cities with a population of more than 5,000 receive greater funding from the state for State Aid roadways. Goldberg noted that fortunately, even though Circle Pines’ population fell under 5,000, it was granted an exemption to be treated as a city of more than 5,000.

“Getting an accurate count in 2020 will be important in avoiding the need for that exemption and for securing needed state funds to keep our roads in good shape,” he said.

He added that the exemption, which may not always be granted, brings in around $150,000 annually to the city for roads.

Goldberg then touched on a couple of issues the country will face with this year's count.

One highly debated topic is whether the question, "Is this person a citizen of the United States?” should be placed on the census, which many argue may deter participation.

According to the 2020 Census Barriers, Attitudes and Motivators Study, challenges the U.S will face include distrust of government, confidentiality, concern that census data will be used against people and the mentality that being counted doesn't matter.

• For each person not counted in the census, Minnesota loses more than $20,000 in federal funds per person per decade.

• About 18% of the Circle Pines $2.1 million budget comes from the state in the form of Local Government Aid (LGA).

For Circle Pines specifically, Golberg mentioned the city will have to strive to get people in the “hard-to-count” category to fill out the census.

These population segments include 23% of the city’s population that occupies rental housing, 11% that occupy multiunit housing, and the 10% of residents who have moved from another residence within the last year.

Getting out and talking to those populations will be one of the many goals of the Complete Count Committee, authorized by the City Council back in December. The committee includes Goldberg, Centennial School District Superintendent Brian Dietz, Golden Lake Elementary Principal Chris Gerst, RDM Insurance Agency co-owner Nancy Laudise and Our Savior's Lutheran Church Community Outreach Pastor Tim Maybee.

“We want to build awareness about the census, (stress) why it is important and maximize community participation,” Goldberg said. He noted the city will also make an effort on social media, in newsletters, on utility bills and at community events to spread the word.

CIRCLE PINES — The city of Circle Pines is pushing for 5,000 people.

Councilman Dean Goldberg has taken the lead in setting up and organizing a Complete Count Committee to ensure the residents of Circle Pines are accurately counted in next year's federal census.

“I developed a passion for the census because in and of itself it is important. I’m passionate about the city of Circle Pines and maximizing our citizens' participation in the census helps the city in a significant way, as well as benefiting the state of Minnesota and our country,” Goldberg said in a presentation to the City Council April 9.

The U.S Constitution (Article 1, Section 2) mandates a headcount every 10 years of everyone in the U.S., including people of all ages, races, ethnic groups, citizens and noncitizens. The census determines the number of seats each state has in the U.S House of Representatives, which is made up of 435 people.

Goldberg explained that this year, Minnesota is one of nine states that is projected to lose a seat because its population is not growing as fast as other states, such as Texas, Arizona, Colorado, California and Montana. Minnesota currently has eight seats; this would leave it with seven.

“The census is about representation, fair distribution of funds and data to make smart decisions,” Goldberg explained, adding even though Minnesota is not growing as fast as other states, he believes we can do a better job at counting the people who live here.

States also use the census totals to redraw their legislative districts. In addition, census information is important to businesses, schools, hospitals, police

hile waiting in line for an ice cream cone at a local establishment the other day, the server handed a cone to a young adult who took it without saying “thank you.”

I noticed because it is so unusual for someone in that type of interaction to simply walk away without any acknowledgement or even a quick thanks. Perhaps the person forgot or was distracted. It got me to thinking about the importance of our every day interactions. More often as I go about my day in this community, I see people smiling at each other, offering to hold open doors and engaging in kind little gestures. We all try to teach our children etiquette and model good manners, and for the most part, the youth I talk to are polite. It’s a reminder that a show of appreciation or a small act of kindness is noticed more than we may ever know; it’s absence is noticed, too.

This brief experience also made me think about how often I say “thank you.” How do I say it to our staff here at Press Publisher’s regularly Publications, our carriers who deliver the papers each week, our customers who partner View with us through their marketing efforts, and Carter Johnson our loyal readers? Probably not enough.

There is a lot that goes into producing the newspaper every single week. Here at Press Publications, our goal is to instill good values in the products we publish: weekly reporting of local government, school board meetings, feature stories, community, church and business briefs, our calendar of events, and much more. Fighting to protect families’ budgets

A

s your state representative, I work hard to make sure that family budgets and your pocketbooks are protected. Part of that job is fighting against radical tax proposals that are being discussed

by Democrats in St. Paul.

Across the entirety of their proposed state budget, Democrats are looking to taxes on Legislator raise hardworking Minnesotans Lingo by more than Linda Runbeck $12 billion over the next four years. And that massive tax increase is on top of the $2.1 billion tax increase that was passed and signed into law

by Gov. Dayton in 2013.

The real-world consequences on your family, your neighbors, every job-holder and every job-creator in Minnesota will be harsh indeed if these tax increases become law.

Remember that these proposed taxes are coming at a time when the state has a $1 billion budget surplus. Realize also that these proposed taxes are coming from Democrats openly in denial of the fraud, waste and incompetence in public programs and are unwilling to take steps to

reform. Yet, they make plans to raise your taxes by $12 billion.

Unconscionable!

For most people, the extreme 70% gas tax increase that Gov.r Walz and House Democrats are proposing is the most painful.

The 70% increase would vault Minnesota all the way to fourth highest in the nation.

In total, their transportation proposal seeks to raise taxes by $3.87 billion over four years and doesn’t just include the gas tax. It also contains tab fee increases, additional vehicle sales taxes and a half-cent metro area sales tax increase for transit.

Further, their plan would raid funds that were set aside last year to fix roads and bridges through already existing sales tax from auto parts and car rental and lease sales.

Along with transportationrelated taxes, Democrats are aiming to raise health care taxes by as much as $2.55 billion during the next four years by reinstating the provider tax or “sick” tax. This is a tax levied on a variety of patient services including things like baby deliveries, chemotherapy treatments, routine doctor visits, emergency room visits and more.

There’s more. Another $2 billion in payroll taxes from employees and employers is being proposed to pay for Democrats’ paid sick and

family leave scheme, which also creates a new government agency and means less money in your paychecks.

Finally, House DFLers’ omnibus tax bill will raise an incredible $4 billion in new taxes in four years. While it’s true that their tax plan will provide a small amount of relief for folks, what you likely won’t hear is that the bill contains a wide array of taxes that will increase consumer prices and reduce wages for Minnesotans.

Between increased spending and massive tax increases, it is clear that House Democrats and Gov. Walz do not have an understanding of Minnesota’s economy and how important it is to ensure that Minnesota families’ tax burden is as low as possible.

Their plans are completely unsustainable and irresponsible at a time when the state has a $1 billion budget surplus.

As long as I’m your state representative, I will fight to make sure your family budget is protected in Minnesota.

It’s time to bring some common sense to St. Paul and to let Governor Walz and House Democrats know that Minnesotans cannot afford what they are proposing.

Tips to help green your garden this season

S

pring in the garden is a time of endless possibilities. We have a blank slate to create a seasonlong masterpiece that will feed our souls and our stomachs, and possibly those of our friends and neighbors.

This annually renewed excitement draws many of us outside to our veggie patch, perennial garden or patio containers each year. Food gardening is an activity proven to lower stress and aid in healthy food choices. There are even studies showing that direct contact with soil microbes (Mycobacterium vaccae) stimulate serotonin which help us relax, so go ahead and get dirty.

I have been an avid gardener of owers and food for years. I consider it a healthy hobby. Yet, on closer inspection, some parts of gardening are not very healthy; the pesticides, plastics and pest controls traditionally used are anything but.

Luckily, there are easy ways to get an eco-friendly jump on your planting.

Here’s a few tips to help you green your garden this season:

Movers & Shakers

Start with sustainable seeds.

Find locally grown seeds, or order your seeds from reputable seed companies with a proven track record, consider organic seeds for their impact on the entire gardening cycle.

Shop local plant sales.

Starting in early May there are local plant sales put on by Master Gardeners, garden clubs, Century College Horticultural Department, Perennial garden clubs of Stillwater, etc. These groups don’t sell plants treated with neonicotinoid pesticides (which cause lasting damage to our pollinators) and you won’t ďŹ nd any GMO varieties there. The money raised usually goes towards local garden projects, garden scholarships or community garden efforts.

Plant for pollinators.

When you plant for pollinators you will be rewarded with higher yields of veggies, not to mention all the added life in your garden. Start with pesticide free, native plants that deliver nectar throughout the season.

Add from there as diversity is key when planting for pollinators. Our University of Minnesota Bee Lab is considered the top in the nation and has a wealth of info on speciďŹ c plant options on their website, www.beelab. umn.

Skip the plastic Why not skip the plastic pots and try making newspaper pots for seedlings instead. Use cardboard boxes instead of plastic pots for larger plantings. Getting kids to craft the newspaper pots and decorate the cardboard is an easy way to get kids engaged in the garden.

Author/photographer Sara Marie Moore and her hedgehog, Ginger, will be featured at a book release party for "The Spike Cream Woods" at Ramsey County Library - Shoreview at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11.

The photo-illustrated children's book blends the worlds of fiction and nonfiction as Ginger, a real-life African pygmy hedgehog, explores a fictional ice cream forest.

Ginger will appear for a reading of the book, short phonics lesson and Q&A time about pet hedgehogs every 15 minutes until 3 p.m. The book will be available to check out from the Ramsey County Library this spring. ‘Max effort’ athletes chosen Cougar girls win Annandale track meet for AD’s scholarships

Two Centennial senior athletes have received a $600 scholarship, courtesy of the state’s activities directors, who also named Brian Hegseth of Centennial as the A.D. of the year.

Madelyn Sanders (basketball) and Wyatt Clancy (hockey) are the scholarship recipients.

They were chosen by Hegseth. After he received his award from Minnesota Interscholastic Activities Administrators Association, he was asked asked to make the selections from his school.

“They are good students, quality school citizens and role models,” said Hegseth. “What stood out to me was their willingness to give max effort at all times, to do the little things for their teams that might not show up on the scoreboard. Mady and Wyatt were superb in these areas.”

Neither came into their senior seasons as stars, or even with starting positions assured, he added.

“Their dedication to improving in the off-season and their selfless determination during basketball and hockey made their senior seasons truly stand out. They went from primarily JV players as juniors, to indispensable all-conference players and teammates their senior seasons,” Hegseth explained.

Sanders averaged around six points and six rebounds per game as a guard on a team that placed third in the state. Clancy, a forward, notched nine goals and 12 assists.

Hegseth concluded that both “will always be able to feel great about what they put in, and what they took away” from their days as Cougars.

Centennial girls track won five events and placed first in an eight-team track meet at Annandale on Thursday. The Cougars had 128 points, with Big Lake, 87, and Delano, 83, finishing 2-3.

Emily Anderson won the 100 dash (13.14) and helped the 4x100 relay (53.04) and 4x200 relay (1:54.36) win. She took fourth in long jump (14-3).

Lauren Cina won 300 hurdles (48.52) and took third in 100 hurdles (1:54.36). The other first was by Samantha Ensign in the 3200 (13:33).

Sophia Anizor was second in discus (100-2) and fourth in shot put (29-0). Lauren Swanson was second in the 1600 (5:45).

Third-place points came from Katelyn Espe in discus (87-7), Annika Beuning in the 800 (2:39) and Margaret Henninger in pole vault (7-0).

Placing fourth were Lizzy Lofstad in the 1600 (5:56) and triple jump (29-8 3/4) and McKenie McDonald in the 400 (1:04.91).

The Centennial boys placed fifth, with Big Lake winning.

Earning second-place points were Adam Namyst in 110 hurdles (16.27) and 300 hurdles (41.36), Landen Liu in 100 dash (11.51) and Yaach Chuol in long jump (17-11), along with the 4x100 and 4x200 relays. Carter Benson was third in pole vault (11-0).

8th annual Chain of Giving nets over $16,000 The Chain of Lakes Rotary hosted its eighth annual Chain of Giving event Saturday, April 13, at Infinite Campus in Blaine. “We were really satisfied with their quality.

They have a really good system, as far as the way the components are put together,” Zorzin explained. “Their plastic is rated way up there on the scale for nonfading, which is important, especially when we are dealing with the color red.

Their metal components are top-notch, the way they tighten them is from the inside, so they have longevity over some of the other designs from other companies. That is really important to us when we are investing this kind of money in our city playground, we want to make sure that it is going to be here for a very long time.”

Park Board Member Deidre Caron explained the board decided to stick with the park’s current farm theme. “We thought it would be a great continuation of what previous boards decided they wanted to do as well as what we feel will lead to more imaginative play for kids,” she said.

The farm theme stems from the rich history of the site. A 1930s-era foundation is still visible on the lawn of the Centennial Library. In 1886, James T. Elwell began buying land in Anoka County, which he used for giant stock farms. One of those farms was Golden Lake Farm, then located in Blaine Township, which included the property where City Hall and the library are located today. In all, Elwell acquired at least 52,700 acres of land in the county and dug about 200 miles of ditches to make that land farmable.

The new play structure will include a farm stand for ages 2-5, as well as the main structure for the “City Hall Farm.”

“Our main goal was to hit the full age range of kids and bigger kids that are coming to the library and the site,” Caron said. “Having a really highquality park here is important. As well as working their brains, they are working their bodies, and when both of those things are worked together, that is when learning can happen.”

Other features of the park include a couple of slides, one over the other, where students can race; and creative swings, including a tandem parent/ child swing, a swing that allows multiple children to swing together at one time, and a handicappedaccessible swing. The stairs of the principal structure are also handicapped-accessible.

St. Croix Recreation will tear down the old structure and put up the new one in late May or early June. After everything is installed, the city plans to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the new playground installation. The Park Board is also looking forward to the return of Music in the Park at Golden Lake Park, which kicks off June 6.

In a nutshell, Centerville in a good place

CENTERVILLE — “Overall, the city is in a great place due to a lot of hard work from a lot of people,” Centerville Mayor Jeff Paar said during the 2019 State of the City report presented at the April 10 City Council meeting.

The report is an annual update given to citizens on how their city is doing. A report was not given last year as a lot was going on, Paar said.

Before many future reports are presented, Centerville citizens should have a few more neighbors, as residential development is starting to expand.

Eighteen detached townhomes of Bayview Villas will soon be developed on the former Waterworks property, and everything is moving forward, Paar said. The city has received building permit applications from the developers, and construction will begin once the frost is gone. Each townhome is expected to cost around $750,000.

Much effort went into making sure the shoreline stays protected and intact, he said.

Roughly 24 townhomes will be constructed as part of Peltier Estates, located at the north end of the Brian Drive cul-de-sac. The city will have to wait a bit longer for the first shovelful of earth to move, not because of frost, but because of necessary paperwork.

The Old Mill Road development

on the east side of Old Mill Road is expected to offer 32 single-family homes.

Commercial development in Centerville is now starting to see a revitalization following the recession.

Ruffridge Johnson Equipment Co. Inc. held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Dec. 12 for its new property on Commerce Drive and 20th Ave. N. The city and Midwest Best Water formed a purchase agreement at the end of March for the adjoining property on Commerce Drive. Midwest Best Water provides wholesale equipment for grocery store owners to provide consumers the capability to fill their own jugs with drinking water.

Earlier in April, the Planning and Zoning Commission studied marketrate apartments for downtown's Block 7 on an empty lot adjacent to Kelly's Korner. Two proposals and concept plans for that site have been presented to the city.

To assist with economic development, as an active member of the Quad Area Chamber of Commerce the city holds events and open houses to promote existing Centerville businesses and attract newcomers.

The city has formed a rebranding committee to make the most of its new era of economic vitality. The committee is composed of Paar, City Administrator/Engineer Mark Statz, Planning and Zoning Commissioner Nick Twohy and Economic

Development Authority Member Jim Weatherhead to freshen up the city's logo and come up with new ideas and taglines. “The present logo is hard to read and see in marketing materials,” Paar said.

Down the road, the city will try to replace entrance signs with monument signs to be more inviting to people coming into town to let them know they are in Centerville. City Hall will be renovated.

The last time the council meeting room was refurbished was in 1992, and the walls were last painted in 2003.

Paar said he hoped the updates would bring City Hall to at least the year 2000.

Last year, the city formally became a community that supports its veterans.

The city will post Beyond the Yellow Ribbon and Purple Heart signs at its entrances to honor its veterans who have served or who have been wounded or killed in action.

The city will continue down the path of improving its pavement. Because street maintenance is extremely expensive, the city has applied for Community Development Block Grants to help pay for for water main installation downtown and ongoing street reconstruction. “The roads are the last puzzle pieces needing to be redone,” Statz said, “The streets are in rough shape.”

Fete des Lacs will be celebrated from July 16-21. Organizers will try to enhance that festival a bit by adding

food trucks. Registration for the parade is available at fetedeslacs.org.

On the public safety front: both police and fire departments have completed their annual budget reports for 2018 and both organizations finished under budget. In addition, the annual audits passed muster, the body-worn cameras are regarded as a huge success, and the Insurance Service Office rating for the Centennial Lakes Fire District has been promoted one step from Class 4 to Class 3 (Class 1 is the best). Public safety personnel have been recognized frequently for lifesaving actions; however, the fire department needs more volunteers.

On the topic of communications and transparency, council meetings are streamed live on cable TV through the North Metro Telecommunications Commission and on the city's website (www.centervillemn.com) and are rebroadcast at both locations. Everyone in town with a smartphone can find their city on Facebook and Twitter.

POLICE REPORTS The Lino Lakes Public Safety Department reported the following incidents: • An officer took a phone call fraud report from a business in the 8000 block of Bluebill Lane April 9. The investigation is ongoing.

• Officers responded to a school in the 7500 block of Fourth Avenue on a report of a student with a vape device April 9. Officers collected the device and cited the student for underage possession of a tobacco device.

• Officers responded to a dispute between several neighbors in the 1200 block of Velvetleaf Lane April 9. The dispute was verbal in nature and several solutions were offered to involved parties.

• An officer conducted a traffic stop on a commercial vehicle for a traffic violation in the 6400 block of Otter Lake Road. The officer conducted a Level l commercial vehicle inspection and the vehicle was put out of service for numerous violations.

• Officers responded to a report of a dog that was hit by a vehicle in the area of Lake Drive and Lois Lane April 10.

Officers made contact with the driver and dog owner and advised them of the situation.

• An officer stopped a motorist in the 600 block of Apollo Drive April 10 and subsequently arrested the driver for possession of a controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic needles

and driving after revocation. The adult male was booked into the Anoka County Jail to be held for charging.

• Officers responded to a tree down in the street; it was hanging from a power line and blocking traffic in the area of Sunset Avenue NE and Century Trail April 11. The power company secured the wires and moved the tree.

• Officers responded to a report of the smell of marijuana in an apartment building in the 700 block of Town Center Parkway April 11. Officers located the source and charges are pending for the possession of a controlled substance.

• Officers responded to a two-vehicle property damage crash in the area of Lake Drive and Town Center Parkway April 13. Both vehicles were towed from the scene and an adult female was cited for failing to stop for a traffic control device.

• An officer stopped a vehicle for numerous moving violations in the 1000 block of Main Street April 14. An adult female driver was subsequently arrested for DWI. The Centennial Lakes Police Department reported the following incidents: • Officers received a delayed dog bite report from the 1900 block of Robin Lane in Centerville April 10. The quarantine process was started.

• Officers conducted a traffic stop for two occupants who were not wearing a seat belt in the area of East Road and Center Road in Circle Pines April 14. The driver did not have his driver’s license in his possession and provided officers with false insurance information.

• Police responded to a phone call report of a delayed criminal sexual conduct incident in Lexington April 15. It appears a juvenile female sent photos to an alleged adult male. The case was forwarded to the Anoka County Criminal Investigative Division.

• Officers investigated a misdemeanor assault in the 4200 block of Woodland Road in Circle Pines April 15. No one was charged for the incident.

• Police conducted a traffic stop in the area of Main Street and 20th Avenue in Centerville April 15. Police detected the odor of marijuana and subsequently searched the vehicle.

The driver was issued a citation for marijuana in a motor vehicle.
