Mission work recognized Waverly Gardens residents Deacon Jim and Henrietta Nistler recently returned to North Dakota to accept the 2016 Caritas Award for the Catholic Charities of North Dakota. The Caritas Award is given annually to persons or organizations in recognition of outstanding services to humanity. The definition of the term Caritas is “Christian love of mankind”. The Nistlers received the award in recognition of their work in establishing a mission in 1990 on behalf of the Bismark, North Dakota Catholic Diocese and their nine years of ministry among the people in Kenya, Africa. The mission they started continues to serve the people of Kisii, Kenya area with humanitarian needs, including hundreds of AIDS orphans with food, shelter, education, and healthcare needs. It also offers others from the Bismark diocese opportunities to
