ike many families in town, the District is starting the new year off by setting its budget. On Jan. 6, Squamish council passed three readings of the 2026-2035 Financial Plan. “This financial plan marks a major milestone for the District as we complete the District’s first ever 10-year financial plan,” Heather Boxrud, general manager of financial, IT and procurement services, told council. “This important and progressive initiative positions the District as one of the few communities in B.C. to have completed this best practice as recommended by the Government Finance Officers Association. This significant body of work is something that council, community, and staff should be very proud of as it will strengthen the District’s ability to address short-term needs and challenges with a view on long-term BUDGET: Continued on 2
