he Coast Mountains offer world-class adventure terrain–and complex rescue challenges. As drone use becomes more common in search-and-rescue responses, Squamish Search and Rescue (SAR) is working with teams across the South Coast to standardize how the technology is deployed. On Dec. 6, Squamish SAR hosted members from nine volunteer teams for a full day drone workshop at the organization’s operations base. demonstration of Eagle Eyes Search program, and a wide-ranging Q&A with SAR members from Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton, the North Shore, Coquitlam, South Fraser, Salt Spring, Arrowsmith and Lions Bay. Representatives from Emergency
Management BC and Whistler Blackcomb also attended. “This is the first of its kind,” Wales said. “Drone programs are relatively new, and for the first time, all of our members are getting together to discuss how we’re going to propel
