Moved by the intertwining of love, loss, and yearning, the freeform star pattern and obscured text demonstrate how these feelings get jumbled up inside of us and how we try so hard to make them go unseen. Designed originally for woodcut relief printing, reconfigured for risograph printing.

WHIP’s 2024

Bird’s Eye - Rayvn Lenae

This album was extremely raw and vulnerable. There is a lot of emotional depth as it ties in themes of self-discovery, relationships, and personal growth. It has a beautiful blend of R&B, Soul, and Alternative. - Ava Mosby
Lily of the Valley - 22 Degree Halo
The up-and-coming Philadelphia-based band 22 Degree Halo released the most peaceful and hopeful albums of 2024. The album features calming lofi rock melodies that catch the ear and evoke a sense of peace. The album’s lyrics feature good moments of the lead singer Will Kennedy’s life as well as the struggles of overcoming cancer inflicted on his partner Kate. Every song is sure to catch your ear! - Bennett Hamilton
Wicked: The Soundtrack - Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo I love this album so much and I don’t even care if I get judged for it. It’s just fire - Katie Fritz
i lay down my life for you - JPEGMAFIA
I have always enjoyed the way that Peggy uses his samples, and I think that recently Scaring the Hoes and this album include some of his most interesting work. I feel like this is the most ‘JPEGMAFIA’ album so far, it showcases the accumulation of all his past work. While listening there’s definitely moments where you can callback his earlier work. - Ava Holmes
The Sunset Violent - Mount Kimbie
I love how each song really compliments one another yet are so amazing by their own. In my humble opinion it’s a true work of art! The artistry is truly showcased and all the sounds are sickening (in a good way)… and it features King Krule! Super cool, super awesome, I love this album! - Anna Palillero-Benito
Albums of the Year

Cartoon Darkness - Amyl and The Sniffers
Punchy, loud, and unapologetic, Amyl and the Sniffers’ Cartoon Darkness is just one head banger after another. It’s fun yet impactful, and impossible not to play on repeat. - Rah Catani
Charm - Clairo
Clairo’s latest album, Charm, draws on melodies of a 1970s jazz album, and I think it really stands out from her past works. I am grateful I was able to attend her show back in November because it was an experience I will never forget. From her vocals to her bandmates, Clairo is a terrific performer. I feel like I hold a lot of memories with this album. Its warm tones and soft flirty lyrics bring me back to the simpler times of the albums original release date. Truly a piece of work filled with catchy tunes and velvety tracks. - Alana Beltran
Cowboy Carter - Beyoncé
I find Cowboy Carter to be Beyoncé’s most ambitious album yet. By taking her Southern roots and inserting herself within the predominantly white country genre. By blending elements of Country, Soul, R&B, Hip-Hop, and Pop, Beyoncé pays tribute to Black culture, while also stirring up discourse on what is, and isn’t, country music. - Olivia Graciela Roque
Golden Hour: Part 1 EP - Ateez
Each song represents something different obviously, but for me personally- as someone whose entire existence is deeply intertwined with music, this album scored a 10/10 for me. Each song relates to a different aspect and moment in my life, and they still gain new meanings as I continue to listen. “Golden Hour” (title track!!) is my favorite because it makes me think about my past memories, and gets me excited for the ones I will make. - Tiarra Andrews

Rah Catani, Hunger, 2024, Screenprint
This series explores the formative experiences of living in a new city as a young adult, including the way in which music became tied to the physical landscape during my time in Rome.

This is print is an illustrated map of Grant Park as experienced during the music festival Lollapalooza, celebrating both the music and the joy of human connection that occur there every year. Rah Catani, 2024, Screenprint

Inspired by the first and second verses of the song “Scott Pilgrim Vs. My Gpa” by band Mom Jeans, these spreads feature photos from 90s art magazines, providing imagery to the simple, yet expressive lyrics. When the abstracted scenes, caused by the repurposing and meticulous collaging, are paired with the poignant lyrics, a sense of yearning filled with regret arises visually and sonically. The upper spread is pages six and seven and the lower spread is the back and front cover.
Ella Corson, Spreads from Scott Pilgrim Vs. My Gpa, 2024, 4.25” x 5.5”, Physical Collaged Zine

While the fluorescent pink and blue risograph ink match the stereotypical colors associated with gender roles, the stylized and illustrated font match the playful toneof the sung chorus from “Girls and Boys” by Blur. This spread features pages six and seven.

A seasonal collection of songs organized in a linear narrative beginning in September and ending in December. Personal photographs and a traditional illustration were digitally collaged and edited for print. This is a quarterly project that began in Summer 2024, stoked by the desire to preserve media physically.
