The Tiniest Mansion in Williamsport
Built by the celebrated carpenter-stair builder, William Slack, circa 1890, this house is a recreation of all of the lovely features and the layout of the Hermance Mansion, only much smaller. Besides building the Hermance staircase, Mr. Slack also built the staircase in the former Mulberry Street M.E. parsonage (also on tour this year), the James. V. Brown mansion, the mansions at 829 and 1022 West Fourth Street, the Rawle mansion, the Updegraff Hotel and many more. While this house is not the size of a mansion, the interior appears much larger than it actually is due to the optical illusions Slack created using his woodworking skills. The home has been cared for and kept in its original condition by the Potts family for over 42 years.
