WELCOME Stay Active is a quarterly publication for active adults designed to bring you news about activities, events and trips. Our goal is to help you feel welcome and provide you with lots of social and active options to fill your days with memorable experiences.

Wheeling Township offers bus service for Wheeling Township residents Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Call 847-2597743 between the hours of 9:00 am and 1:30 pm to schedule transportation. Reservations should be made two days before the travel date.

Rock and roll your way into the New Year in classic Dick Clark style with your favorite ‘50s and New Year’s Eve music and learn about the history of our celebration with Heather Braoudakis.

AWESOME AUSTRALIA Tuesday, January 18

With a tapestry of original photographs and a deep well of stories, world traveler Brian Michalski shares his experiences backpacking and working for 10 months in the Land Down Under. His visits to exotic destinations, including the Australian Outback, Great Barrier Reef and Tasmania, offer a look into the country’s fascinating history, grand traditions, chic urban life, charming slang, deadly animals and Aboriginal influences.

MUSICAL MEMORIES: THE POWER OF A SONG Tuesday, January 25

Guitarist Steve Justman performs a variety of Hit Parade oldies, early rock and roll, love songs, classic country and vintage music. He is definitely an audience favorite!

VALENTINE’S DAY CELEBRATION Monday, February 14

Be our Valentine’s Day date! Love is in the air at this party when Edizon Dayao performs a variety of romantic songs and fun music for all to enjoy.

From Showboat to Phantom, My Fair Lady to Cats, and everything in between, learn how Broadway became what it is today. Step into your favorite characters and stories from the beginnings of musical theater to the present. Spend a delightful afternoon singing along with Heather Braoudakis.

MARDI GRAS CELEBRATION Monday, February 28

Mardi Gras is French for Fat Tuesday, referring to the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten season begins. Celebrate with Sandi Haynes as she sings a little jazz, R&R, Latin Disco and more.

FEELING GROOVY

Wednesday, March 9 Heather Braoudakis takes us on a musical trip back to the “feeling groovy” days of the 1960s. Relive the wonderful tunes of Burt Bacharach, the Mamas and the Papas, the Fifth Dimension, Neil Sedaka and more.

ST. PATRICK’S CELEBRATION Thursday, March 10

Wear your green or risk getting pinched by a leprechaun! In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, Anna Bell O’ Shea sings classic Celtic tunes for the Irish in all of us.

GOLDEN AGE OF HOLLYWOOD Tuesday, March 29

Martina Mathisen, educational entertainer, presents The Golden Age of Hollywood with Louella Parsons. The scintillating stories and scandals of the actors, actresses, and studio moguls during this captivating time in movie history headline this fascinating presentation. 4
