Our swim programs provide safe, supportive instruction for all ages. From parent/tot classes and preschool lessons to our progressive Swim School, teens, and adult classes, swimmers build confidence and skills at every stage. Private lessons are also available for personalized instruction.

The 6 levels of this program emphasize strong technique, safety, and meet the needs of swimmers at any ability level. Students learn to be safe and relaxed in the water while working on core skills in Levels 1-2, start working towards freestyle in Level 3, learn backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke in Levels 4-5, and get ready for swim team in Level 6. Previous participants are placed in an appropriate level, and new students are tested on the first day of class.

Develop early basketball skills such as shooting, dribbling, and passing, along with the basic rules of the game. All instruction is game and drill-oriented, with mini-games and scrimmages played every week. This class is for basketball beginners looking to understand the game and build new skills while having fun.

Designed for players looking to continue developing their basketball fundamentals and game awareness, this clinic focuses on more advanced skills, including guard and post techniques, setting screens, moving without the ball, and understanding proper offensive spacing. Defensive instruction emphasizes man-to-man principles, denying the ball, helpside defense, and boxing out. Players will also spend time refining their shooting technique, with an emphasis on proper mechanics to extend range. Weekly scrimmages are included to reinforce skills in a game-like setting.

PHYBS FALL HOUSE BASEBALL & SOFTBALL LEAGUE
Organized by the Prospect Heights Youth Baseball and Softball Organization, this fall league offers a fun and supportive environment for boys and girls of all skill levels. Programs range from introductory T-Ball and Coach Pitch Softball to Pony Baseball and Varsity Softball for older players. Players participate in weekly practices led by dedicated volunteer coaches and compete in weekday and weekend games. Along the way, they develop essential skills such as hitting, fielding, throwing, and base running while gaining a deeper understanding of the game. More than just learning the fundamentals, players build confidence, teamwork, and lasting friendships, making the Fall House League a great place to grow, compete, and have fun on the field.

Our soccer league provides an excellent opportunity for children of all ages and abilities (no experience necessary!) to improve their motor skills, learn teamwork, and have a great time. The league is structured to limit roster sizes, maximizing on-field playing time and enhancing player development. The Wheeling Park District is focused on keeping up to date with changing state and national soccer standards to ensure we provide the best soccer experience possible for your child.

Register for Youth Tennis Lessons! These lessons are designed to introduce beginner youth tennis players to the fundamentals of the game in a fun, supportive, and structured environment. Each session focuses on building confidence, improving coordination, and developing essential tennis skills, with consistent guidance and encouragement from the coach to help young players learn and enjoy the game.
Register for Little Dinkers! These one-day clinics introduce kids to the exciting game of Pickleball. Players will learn the basics of the sport, including stroke mechanics, how to serve, volley, dink, and keep score through fun drills and game-based scenarios. Kids will have a great time playing with others while gaining a better understanding of the game. Pickleball paddles will be provided. Limited spots are available.

This league includes instruction on all major volleyball skills: serving, passing, setting, and attacking. This class is for volleyball beginners looking to understand the game and develop new skills. Kneepads are recommended.

ADVANCED GAME TIME VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE
The Volleyball League exposes youth players to team dynamics and develops volleyball skills, strategy, and technique. Evaluations will be conducted in the first week and used to determine team placement and ensure balanced teams. The Hot Shots Sports coaches will conduct a 20-minute skills session each week, followed by multiple timed games for each team. Emphasis for the league will be placed on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Kneepads are recommended.

Ignite Imagination & Self-Expression
Ignite imagination and self-expression through dynamic forms like dance, theatre, and visual arts, where creativity comes to life. From the energy of cheerleader to the captivating performances of theatre, each art form embraces creativity and connection.

UNDER THE SEA ADVENTURE
Dive into ocean fun! Explore water sensory bins, create colorful sea creatures, and move like dolphins, crabs, and octopuses. Enjoy songs, stories, and hands-on play in this magical under-the-sea adventure. Please bring a nut-free lunch, ensure your child can use the bathroom independently, and look forward to a special treat!

BACKYARD ADVENTURES
Explore the wonders of summer outdoors! Children will enjoy imaginative play on the playground, create fun summer-themed crafts, move with songs and games, and listen to engaging stories. Each child will also enjoy a special treat!

Celebrate summer’s end with crafts, bubbles, music, and games! Children will create fun summer-themed projects, enjoy stories and snacks, and receive a special treat. Please bring a nut-free lunch and ensure your child can use the bathroom independently.

LITTLE WAVE RIDERS
Splash, pour, and play in our watery summer adventure! Toddlers and moms will explore sprinklers, and water games—perfect for sensory fun, motor skills, and cooling off together. SUNNY SCIENTISTS
Explore, experiment, and get hands-on in this sunny summer class! Toddlers and moms will mix colors, watch fizzy reactions, and discover the magic of simple science through playful, safe experiments. An adult must remain in the room and participate with their child. One adult per child.

LITTLE FIREFLIES
Twinkle, glow, and move in our magical “Little Fireflies” class! Toddlers and moms will explore glow-in-the-dark stickers, LED jars, and flashlight games, dancing, chasing, and discovering light together. Perfect for sensory play, coordination, and imaginative summer fun! An adult must remain in the room and participate with their child. One adult per child.

SUMMER STORY TIME, CRAFTS & CONNECTION
Meet us at the park for story time, a hands-on craft, and socializing with other Wheeling families. An adult must remain with the child and actively participate in the program. Registration fees are per child; adults attend free.

What is Financial Assistance
Wheeling Park District offers financial assistance to residents who need help paying for recreation programs.
How do I apply?
Getting started is easy:
• Submit your Application: Apply for financial assistance at the CRC Guest Services Desk by requesting and completing an application form. Guests can also download the application form by clicking on the following link wpdfun.com/Financial-Assistance-Application, and delivering a printed copy of the application at the CRC Guest Services Desk.
• Receive your Notification: Guests will receive a notification via email withing 2-3 business days with details about their financial assistance coverage.
I Was Approved for Financial Assistance — What’s Next?
• Find eligible programs: Look for the symbol in this guide or review the list below to see which programs qualify for financial assistance.
• Complete a financial assistance registration form: Request and complete the Financial Assistance Program Registration Form at the Community Recreation Center Guest Services Desk, listing the programs for which you would like to register. You may also download the form at www.wheelingparkdistrict.com/financial-assistance-2026
• Submit your registration form: Submit the completed form in person at the Guest Services Desk. Your registration will be reviewed, and a tentative enrollment confirmation will be emailed to you with details about your financial assistance coverage and the amount you are responsible for paying.
