If you have never used our registration system and want to qualify for resident fees, please stop by the Guest Service Desk at the CRC and show proof of residency status. Valid driver’s license, utility bill, copy of lease or mortgage agreement are acceptable forms of proof.

CCSD21 & CCSD23 STUDENTS

All children enrolled as students in CCSD21 and CCSD23 are granted resident rates on qualifying non-contractual youth programs.

Our swim programs provide safe, supportive instruction for all ages. From parent/tot classes and preschool lessons to our progressive Swim School, teens, and adult classes, swimmers build confidence and skills at every stage. Private lessons are also available for personalized instruction.

These classes focus on development of motor skills in the water, including blowing bubbles, kicking on front and back, supported floats, and alternating arm scoops. Students are also given structured opportunities to further explore the water while using appropriate techniques and games geared toward the development of their skills. Upon completion of the two levels, your child is eligible to enroll in our Swim School.

SWIM SCHOOL

Ages: 6 - 12 years

The 6 levels of this program emphasize strong technique, safety, and meet the needs of swimmers at any ability level. Students learn to be safe and relaxed in the water while working on core skills in Levels 1-2, start working towards freestyle in Level 3, learn backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke in Levels 4-5, and get ready for swim team in Level 6. Previous participants are placed in an appropriate level, and new students are tested on the first day of class.

LIL DRIBBLERS BASKETBALL: ROOKIES The Lil’ Dribblers program is designed to introduce young children to basketball. Participants will learn basic skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and movement through fun, ageappropriate activities and games. PHYBS FALL HOUSE BASEBALL & SOFTBALL LEAGUE Organized by the Prospect Heights Youth Baseball and Softball Organization, this fall league offers a fun and supportive environment for boys and girls of all skill levels. Programs range from introductory T-Ball and Coach Pitch Softball to Pony Baseball and Varsity Softball for older players. Players participate in weekly practices led by dedicated volunteer coaches and compete in weekday and weekend games. Along the way, they develop essential skills such as hitting, fielding, throwing, and base running while gaining a deeper understanding of the game. More than just learning the fundamentals, players build confidence, teamwork, and lasting friendships, making the Fall House League a great place to grow, compete, and have fun on the field.

Fall Season Dates: 8/1/2026 to 10/15/2026 This activity is not affiliated with or operated by the Wheeling Park District. It is sponsored and administered by the Prospect Heights Youth Baseball & Softball Organization.

START YOUNG SOCCER STRIKERS SOCCER: JUNIORS This class uses age-appropriate games and drills to promote motor skills and familiarity with a soccer ball. Through our fun games and adventure-themed activities, players develop skills such as balance, shooting, close ball control, and trapping. This class not only instills a love of soccer but also underscores the importance of sports in promoting a full and healthy life.

Parent or guardian participation is required. Shin guards are optional; all equipment is provided.

SOCCER LEAGUES WILDCATS KICK & PLAY SUMMER SOCCER LEAGUE Our program is designed to introduce young athletes to the fun, teamwork, and excitement of soccer in a supportive and positive environment. Whether your child is kicking a ball for the first time or building on existing skills, our league offers opportunities for every level of experience.

The Youth Soccer League focuses on player development, sportsmanship, and enjoyment of the game. Each season includes: •

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE What is Financial Assistance Wheeling Park District offers financial assistance to residents who need help paying for recreation programs.

How do I apply?

Getting started is easy: •

Submit your Application: Apply for financial assistance at the CRC Guest Services Desk by requesting and completing an application form. Guests can also download the application form by clicking on the following link wpdfun.com/Financial-Assistance-Application, and delivering a printed copy of the application at the CRC Guest Services Desk.

Receive your Notification: Guests will receive a notification via email withing 2-3 business days with details about their financial assistance coverage.

I Was Approved for Financial Assistance — What’s Next?

•

Find eligible programs: Look for the symbol in this guide or review the list below to see which programs qualify for financial assistance.

•

Complete a financial assistance registration form: Request and complete the Financial Assistance Program Registration Form at the Community Recreation Center Guest Services Desk, listing the programs for which you would like to register. You may also download the form at www.wheelingparkdistrict.com/financial-assistance-2026

•

Submit your registration form: Submit the completed form in person at the Guest Services Desk. Your registration will be reviewed, and a tentative enrollment confirmation will be emailed to you with details about your financial assistance coverage and the amount you are responsible for paying.
