A book for all lovers of Atlin history

Kate Fisher and Christine Dickinson were both in Atlin on May 18, 2025 for the launch of their new book: Tales, Trials and Triumphs: Echoes of Atlin. Published by the Atlin Historical Society the book has been very well received.

The 304-page hard-cover book features images from 11 different archival collections, especially Atlin’s own archives, as well as contributions from 14 private collections. Stories accompany the pictures, many of which have never been previously published. The authors have particularly enjoyed learning more stories with the book’s release.

Robbie Shaw shared that the picture on page 128 of Walter Sweet was Walter’s purposeful mimicking of a cod liver oil advertisement. Check out the similarities.

The book has shed light on some of the many AHS archives holdings. Is there an image in the book that you would like to print and have on your own wall? Contact the archives through atlinhistoricalsociety@gmail.com if there is an AHS pic you would like for your personal use. For $20/image one can agree to AHS permission guidelines and receive a digital file for you to print for your own use. What better way to bring a bit of Atlin history into your own space☺

Local Society members have been able to pick up Tales, Trials and Triumphs: Echoes of Atlin at the Museum, Kershaw’s and Magpie Gifts. For Whitehorse members the book is stocked at Mac’s, Well Read, and the gift shop at the Transportation Museum. Comox and Victoria bookstores have the book, but it is also available online at atlin-historical-society.square.site.

Message from the Atlin community interest liaison on the Government to Government Forum between BC and TRTFN ( the G2G Forum).

The G2G Forum addresses important issues on the land base, including mining and mineral exploration, protected areas, fish and wildlife management, as well as research and monitoring.

As your Atlin Community Interest Liaison, I would like to hear from you about topics that are important to you so I can be the conduit of Atlin Community interests at the Forum and in meetings with the Co-chairs. -
