LENARD DIDUCK
Born 2053 in Cranbrook, BC. Passed Oct 22, 2025, in Whitehorse.
Lenard had a special laugh and chuckle and that will be missed by many who knew him. He was generous, fun loving but could have a fiery temper. He loved to “wheel and deal”. That Big Auction deal and the possibility of a lucky find.
Lenard started out in his fathers Logging Business and loved the big machines. In mid life he started chasing “Gold” which he did well at. First out of Vancouver and eventually landed here in Atlin. World travel had him in Switzerland, Sweden, Mexico, US, Ecuador and other places. At each destination there always seemed to be some big adventure and chaos.
He had many many stories to tell.
Lenard woke up and his Houseboat was jerking this way and that. A Big Bull Moose was out there battling with his guide ropes on the shore.
The story of the waves blowing out his Houseboat front windows while crossing from Theresa Island to Atlin because his 2 lady passengers just had to get to work in WH on Monday. The ladies turned from “We must go to work…. To “NO we don’t!!!!!!” Lenard’s reply. “There is no turning back now. The waves will topple the Houseboat if it goes sideways.” He proceeded to lengthen the bow of that Houseboat.
He loved Hunting, Fishing with his Atlin friends Glen McKenzie, Wayne Lewis, Norm Vig, Bryan McNeil and others. Always an adventure.
A daily highlight for Lenard was his daily coffee, treat and chat with Shani or Allyson at the Atlin Lake Bakery. He loved his iPhone for keeping in touch with old friends. Hated his computer and telephone. His friends Wayne, Allyson, Vikki where constantly guiding him thu that maize
A special THANK YOU to our thoughtful Paramedic Scott Cole for his home check-ins. Also, Sheila (Norm Vig’s daughter). She had cut Lenard’s hair for 25 yrs and they had kept each other up to date with gossip. Her constant presence and support in his last month in hospital was so appreciated by Lenard. He never felt alone and also thru the use of Lenard’s Iphone, Sheila was able to keep Lenard’s many many friends up to date.
Lenard was a huge supporter and believer of the Atlin Recreational Centre. He was always bidding Higher in the Auctions. He had a grand trip with Rich Hansen Sturgeon fishing on the Fraser River and took his old friends Norm and Mitzi Vig (old owners of Atlin RV Campground). So, if you want to make Lenard SMILE send a Donation to the ARC in his name … Atlin Recreational Centre PO Box 149 Atlin, BC V0W1A0
Dear Lenard. May the journey you are now on be full of happiness and Love. From your many Atlin friends plus your long time Granisle friend Larry.
