The Atlin Whisper “Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world.” Margaret Mead

THE ENCHANTED QUILL Elie Badhwar started his business last Summer. He is making Boot Jacks, a very simple and effective device for removing foot ware, especially heavy boots, without the need to bend over. Elie puts heart and soul into his products. He saws, he sands, he paints, he writes the lettering with an Eagle Feather Quill and then, because he uses the Quill, he paints a feather on the Boot Jacks with the shaft of the feather touching his lettering as if it were writing by itself. “Elie,” I said, “you are 11 years old and you have your own business. What name are you going to give to your business?” Elie thought briefly and then replied, “The Enchanted Quill.”

Great for large boots or regular shoes

Elie has cut 36 Boot Jacks from one 4’ x 8’ sheet of ¾ inch plywood. He has cut a V-shape in the upper end, then screws pedestals on the bottom to hold the tip up for removing your boots. After painting, he finishes with a clear, water resistant varnish. And then, for safety, he adds a “grip strip” to the lower end of the Boot Jack. Elie customizes each Boot Jack writing whatever name is requested. Some people ask for first names, some want family names. When giving Boot Jacks as gifts some request “For Grandma” or “For Auntie” or other – whatever you desire. If you would like more information you may contact David Thorn.
