Pubic Works Up-dates

Periodically, the Town Office gets an inquiry about the availability of industrial land in Faro. Because most land around Faro is Crown Land, interested people usually end up contacting the Yukon Government Lands Branch (YGLB) about the possibility, after which the process was reported as being a bit challenging. That is changing because the Town of Faro is working closely with YGLB to develop a new industrial subdivision and bring more industrial land to the community. Currently, we are reviewing a few sites that would lend themselves to development and marketing, possibly as early as next Spring.

So, what do we need to know to help make this a reality?  The Town Office needs to know how much land a purchaser would need for their business (e.g.: 1 acre or 10 acres?)  Does the purchaser need Single Phase power or Three Phase power?  Does the purchaser need water? If you are interested in acquiring industrial land in Faro, in the near future, please contact the Chief Administrative Officer, Larry Baran at 867-994-2728 ext 4 or via email at caofaro@faroyukon.ca. Have you checked you faucet aerator lately?

This notice is for residents on the Upper Bench (Yates & Douglass) who have been experiencing water service disconnections and reconnections. The Town Office encourages you to check your water faucets and bleeders to ensure that plastic shavings have not collected in your filters and aerators.

While this may prove to only be an annoyance in your faucets and shower heads, it could potentially block the Water Bleeder hole which could compromise its’ function and water-line freeze protection for your home. If you have any concerns about how to do this, please call the Town Office.

It is Almost Time To Turn your

Water Bleeders!

Contractor Resource List

The Town of Faro is Seeking Contractors in the community who may periodically be interested in short-term contracts to clear and clean private properties where the landowner has been unable or unwilling to maintain their property after notice has been given and the Town is required to complete the work for the safety of the community under authority of the Property Maintenance Bylaw (Bylaw 08-04). When Town Crews are unable to complete the work due to their own schedules, the Town has the authority to issue a contract to complete the work, pay the contractor, and invoice the property owner. Contractors who are interested in short-term contracts are encouraged to contact the Town Office to add your name to our Resource List. All contractors will be required to have a current Town of Faro Business License or a Yukon Inter-Municipal Business License. For more information, please contact: Larry Baran, CAO 867-994-2728 ext 4 cao-faro@faroyukon.ca
