elcome to the Cairngorms National Park and the October edition of the What’s On, the free events guide.
To help you make the most of your time here we’ve put together an essential guide packed with what’s happening in the area. We’ve got some great ideas for things to do, places to see, where to eat and drink, and places to stay. October is a great time of year to come and enjoy the Cairngorms in all its beautiful, Autumn colours. It also brings the return of many popular events. The famous World Porridge Making Championships takes place on the 6th with competitors from across the globe battling it out to win the Golden Spurtle award. Runners can take part in the Aviemore Half Marathon on the 14th or the Illuminator Night Trail Run on the 27th through the forest of Glen Tanar. Braemar hosts its annual Creative Arts festival from the 24th-28th, a mix of exciting musical and creative workshops. Finally don’t forget to check out all the Halloween events happening across the Park!! The Cairngorms National Park has something for everyone.
