Sweet dreams are made of this: Hasbro’s board game comes to life in a new competition for professional confectioners in Candy Land (airing Sundays on Food Network). After finding ingredients hidden somewhere in Candy Land — say, Lemon Lime Springs or the Gumdrop Mountains — five teams of sugar specialists take on various challenges, creating candied mythical creatures, one-of-akind gifts for King Kandy and more. Their work is judged by Spring Baking Championship’s winning chocolatier Nacho Aguirre and Food Network Star’s Season 6 victor, Aarti Sequeira. Over six episodes (the series finale is Dec. 20), Emmy and Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth guides contestants through the Wonka-worthy interpretations of classic Candy Land

CASTING NEWS The coronavirus-induced cancellation of ABC’s Stumptown has freed up Michael Ealy to now star in Triage alongside Parisa Fitz-Henley. As previously reported in this column, Triage is a medical drama following a surgeon over three decades in the same hospital. Ealy will play a brilliant neurosurgeon who’s good friends with Fitz-Henley’s character.

Showtime is bringing back one of its Dexter, as Michael C. iconic shows in Dexter Hall returns to the character for a limited 10-episode series. The series famously ended on a low note with Dexter faking his death and becoming a lumberjack, but the new series will give audiences a different ending, for better or worse.

Slay focuses on Carson Jones, an outgoing teenager with the cool factor of the ’70s and supernatural gifts inherited from her mother. The Great Christmas Light Fight

NBC, 7pm Dr. Seuss’ beloved classic children’s book How the Grinch Stole Christmas! has become a Christmas staple for generations. This musical version, with book and lyrics by Timothy Mason and music by Mel Marvin, and featuring the hit songs “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch” and “Welcome Christmas” (by Albert Hague and Dr. Seuss), breathes new life into this timeless story. This fun-filled two-hour production will air from the Troubadour Theatre in London, and stars Matthew Morrison (Glee) as the Grinch.

TNT, 7pm TNT’s A Christmas Carol is an original adaptation of the classic Charles Dickens tale of heartless Ebenezer Scrooge and the haunting Christmas Eve that sets him on a path to redemption. The CW, 7pm Based on the hit song that became a worldwide holiday phenomenon, this goofy and heartwarming adventure features young Jake Spankenheimer on the quest of a lifetime to track his missing grandma down on Christmas Eve to prove that Santa Claus is indeed real. Michele Lee provides the voice of Jake’s greedy Cousin Mel, and recording artist Elmo Shropshire provides the narration.

CBS, 7:30pm Live Following up on the success of their CBS concert special in spring of this year, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood will perform live by request from their home recording studio, Studio G, singing songs of the season for viewers looking for the comfort and shared joy of music during the holidays.
