Mytime Active appoints Taylor Made Designs as preferred uniform supplier MYTIME Active has appointed Taylor Made Designs to supply workwear to their employees across its entire estate of diverse facilities and services following a comprehensive competitive tender process. “Mytime Active is an independent charity responsible for the management of a range of leisure, golf and wellbeing services and facilities across London, Kent, Hampshire and the Midlands,” said Jason Stanton, operations director for Mytime Active. “Across our estate, we have a team in excess of 800 employees operating in an array of roles including catering and hospitality, lifeguards and fitness instructors, grounds maintenance, golf professionals, swim instructors and health professionals – to name just a few. “Each role has a specific uniform requirement, so we were looking for a partner who could supply a quality product to a diverse portfolio of needs and to multiple venues through
Jason Stanton an online platform. “I am pleased to say that TMD has proved itself to be the right choice. “TMD offers an online stock management and ordering system. The platform acts like a virtual shop window displaying the various approved uniform products for each department and providing information on stock levels, lead times and costs.
“Our department heads can now manage the uniform requirements of their teams directly, which is hugely improving efficiencies. “Prior to the appointment of TMD, uniforms were provided by 11 independent suppliers, which made
understanding and managing total stock levels a constant challenge. “Now, with TMD’s online e-commerce platform, all information is in one place and we have instant access to real time stock levels across the estate at the touch of a button. “Working with a leisure uniform specialist has also proved its worth. “The TMD team has a great understanding of the needs of our business and instant access to the technical materials and range of garments we need to ensure our teams are kitted out with workwear most suited to the needs of their role. “Where we have come up against challenges, the TMD team has always been quick to resolve them. I feel with TMD we have established a true longterm partnership.” For more information on TMD and how the team can help you achieve your workwear and merchandise ambitions call 01202 473311 or visit www.taylormadedesigns.co.uk

KAL adds community functional training playground KIRKLEES Active Leisure has worked with Escape Fitness to transform an underutilised training space at Huddersfield Leisure Centre into a vibrant functional training playground, specifically designed to engage a wider segment of the community. “Our community is extremely diverse. We wanted to create an inclusive training environment that would encourage and inspire everyone to train, not just our experienced gym-goers,” said Jenn Flaherty, fitness development manager at Kirklees Active Leisure. “Performing whole body movements, which mirror those employed in everyday life and are focused on
improving strength and stability, can hugely benefit not just those training specifically for speed and strength but also those who simply want to live a more mobile and active life. “We wanted to create a nonintimidating, accessible functional training environment that could support the needs of everyone. This is exactly what Escape has delivered.” The centrepiece of the functional space is a freestanding, bespoke Octagon frame, designed to offer optimal flexibility through the creation of training zones that accommodate a wide range of training abilities. At one end, the Octagon frame creates
the perfect multi-person training space for a variety of exercises, from battle ropes and body weight training to reaction exercises and core conditioning movements. This zone is connected via monkey bars, providing an ideal anchor point for multiple suspension training straps, through to a dedicated lifting zone. Here, incorporated storage solutions provide two, self-contained, lifting stations ideal for strength training and CrossFit style classes. This structure is supported by an area of floor space marked out as a nine square grid, perfect for station-based classes that can incorporate a range of
functional training equipment including the versatile, space saving, strength training solution – the Escape Fitness DECK 2.0, a speed track and a range of cardio equipment. Richard Burton, senior account manager and concept designer at Escape Fitness, added: “We have created a diverse training environment that captures the imagination of both trainers and members, providing training inspiration for all. “The installation took just two weeks to complete and has delivered a sustainable training environment that will serve the community for many years to come.”

Workers plan to kickstart new fitness routine MORE people are set to swap working from home for a workout after a new survey found almost two-thirds of British employees surveyed (60 per cent) plan to kickstart a new fitness routine to coincide with the ‘great return’ to the workplace. New data from The Gym Group has revealed those returning to the workplace following the lifting of Plan B restrictions are keen to get back to the gym and form regular exercise habits. More than half of employees who exercise (59 per cent) also said that if their employer allows them to work flexibly each week, they will be more likely to stay active. The Gym Group, which operates more than 200 gyms, is setting out to help the nation get active by launching a new campaign called ‘Back To Work-Out’, which will give away free one-day passes every Monday throughout February. A group of keen commuters ready to get back to their workouts in part work, part fitness wear, were spotted on London Bridge supporting the initiative. TV medic Dr Chris George, who is backing the campaign to support people to take up regular exercise while they work more flexibly, said: “Kickstarting your week with a workout is as good for your mind, as it is for your body and this survey shows that more people are
motivated to get back to working out and start a new exercise routine as life begins to return to normal. “The last few years have been challenging for everyone, but we can now take back control of our lives and by taking small steps towards health and wellness goals will help to make us feel happier and healthier. “A Monday workout can help start your week in the right way which is why The Gym Group’s Back To Work-Out campaign is a great initiative in enabling more people across the country to access their fitness spaces.” The survey also found more than half (55 per cent) of those who exercise agree that kickstarting the working week with exercise on a Monday has a positive impact on the rest of the week. The biggest motivator for many of them to get active in 2022 is to improve their mental health with almost half (49 per cent) stating wellbeing as their personal motivational goal. This was followed by improving energy levels (37 per cent) and losing weight for a special occasion such as a wedding (34 per cent).
Eddie to host Burnley Active Community Awards ICONIC underdog Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards is to host this year’s Burnley Active Community Awards, which will feature three new categories when they return to their traditional July date following last year’s disruption caused by the pandemic. The annual celebration (formerly known as the Burnley Community Sports Awards) pays tribute to those who show dedication at a range of sporting, health, and wellbeing activities at all levels, and those who work tirelessly to support individuals or community clubs, for the love of the sport or their community. Andrea Pollard, events and partnerships manager at Burnley Leisure and Culture, which organises the awards, said: “We invited Eddie to host because he personifies determination. “He never gave up and always had
his sights set on making his dreams a reality. “The success of the film back in 2016 really makes him well known to all our audience, young and old.
“He’s such a likeable character and his story of how he overcame adversity is relevant now more than ever after everything our communities have faced over the last 21 months.” Eddie captivated the nation with his exploits at the 1988 Winter Olympic Games in Calgary, Canada, where he came last in the 70m and 90m contests but won national admiration for his determination to overcome adversity and compete in the first place. He has since ridden the wave of public popularity by becoming a public speaker and media personality. He has appeared in nationwide advertising campaigns and has even had a film made about his life story that saw him become the first Briton to compete in Olympic ski jumping. This year’s ceremony will be held at the Burnley Mechanics Theatre on July 7.

Capital solutions from TVS Group WE were recently tasked with supplying and installing problemsolving flooring solutions in an exciting new strength, conditioning and mobility gym located in the heart of a busy London suburb. The architect-designed ‘Gymnasium’ facility in Wandsworth features three unique training studios: Athletica – where the focus is on cardio and high impact activities; Stronger – a dedicated space focussing on strength training; and finally Compete – a studio where budding gymnasts can develop their core strength and skills. The Compete studio at Wandsworth
backs on to a tower block containing both residential and business premises presenting potential noise issues. Fortunately, TVS Group specialises in market-leading noise and vibration solutions for problems like this. After a full acoustic appraisal, it was agreed that we should supply and install a multi-layered flooring solution with significant noise dampening qualities. Our chosen approach also inhibits any vibrations caused by gym activities from entering other parts of the building structure. The overall effect of this means
that assorted gym activities can take place as normal, and the noise and vibrations are imperceptible to neighbours both near and further afield, meaning a win-win solution for all parties. The Stronger studio meanwhile, located at ground level, features six elite-level lifting platforms. Part of the task here was to provide a seamless transition between surrounding flooring and the lifting platforms themselves. After precisely setting out the platform areas, we installed our heavy duty TVS SPORTEC Style tiles over our impact protection tiles, ensuring
a flush finish between the junctions of the gym flooring and the impactabsorbent lifting platforms. This attention to detail is not only aesthetic, it also means less likelihood of tripping as gym members move between activity zones. Finally, flooring in the Athletica Studio was much more straightforward, as we were able to simply install a single layer of our TVS SPORTEC heavy duty rubber tiles straight over the concrete substrate. The cardio comeback is on WITH the rise in boutiques and studio concepts in recent years, coupled with the emergence of new workout trends, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the demand for traditional fitness equipment is on the decline. But in many facilities, that’s not the case. Technology has regenerated cardio training in the gym, with advanced programming and entertainment options creating unique workout experiences for users at all levels. For many, it’s also the ease of use and accessibility that means that in many gyms, the cardio area remains busy. But it’s not just the casual gym goers taking up the treadmills… For New Age Fitness’ facilities, cardio equipment is a mainstay on its gym floors. Its third site, which recently
opened in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, is home to the full range of Life Fitness’ Integrity Series, also featuring the new SL console. “In an ever-evolving industry, one thing that I believe will always remain a constant is the need for a range of cardio equipment in a commercial gym,” said director Steve Morley. “Our membership base is made up of all ages and abilities, and the cardio section allows them to build confidence and fitness levels; we cater for every type of trainer and member, and our cardio equipment is used by everyone. “We wanted to partner with the industry’s best suppliers and that’s why we chose Life Fitness.” When the health club at five-star holiday site Ribby Hall Village underwent
a full refurbishment, the team sought to find a cardio solution that would meet the demands of its wide-ranging members, from experienced gym goers to casual users. Consequently, Ribby Hall Village opted for a full range of cardio with Life Fitness’ premium Discover SE3 HD consoles. “From our first time using the equipment, it was clear that the embedded technology combined with its intuitive simplicity made it the perfect choice for our members,” added James Mitchell, health club duty manager. “The large Life Fitness On Demand coaching library and Performance Run view available with the consoles is perfect for the experienced user. Entertainment options, including integrated streaming through Netflix,
ensures the equipment is also a great option for the casual exerciser.” Offering one of the industry’s largest ranges of cardio equipment, Life Fitness combines biomechanical design with intuitive technology to deliver engaging experiences. With unique products like the Arc Trainer, a range of consoles to suit every budget and exerciser’s needs, and advanced entertainment and programming options to help users maximise every workout, Life Fitness can create the ideal cardio experience for your members. New fitness trends will continue to emerge, with some outlasting others. But if current demand is anything to go by, cardio equipment isn’t going anywhere. www.lifefitness.co.uk

How can offering a free gym induction increase retention and drive more secondary spend? By Kate Landers COMPETITION in the fitness industry is at an all-time high. Not only are health clubs competing against physical operators, they are now also competing against online trainers too. Retention and secondary spend are becoming increasingly important in 2022 as clubs look for ways to increase customer lifetime value. In recent years, many clubs have shied away from the full-service model where they offered free personalised programmes and re-assessments, to reduce their wage bill and compete against the budget, low-service box gyms. But could they be missing a trick here? At CFM we have worked in hundreds of gyms across the UK and Australasia and have seen clubs whose financial success stems from their free gym induction. They use the induction as a platform to up-sell their newly signed members on to personal training, nutrition programmes, six-week challenges and more. This not only drives secondary spend, but motivates the member to achieve and subsequently stick with it for longer. So how do they do it? Here are three solid components to their success:
how you can help them get there, is a great start in setting up any sales process. People buy based on emotion, so finding out a customer’s ‘why’ is essential. This will not only guide them in their purchase decision, but also give them a strong foundation to achieve their goals. For example, if you are selling PT packages, finding out what the customers goal is (e.g. lose 5kg) is not enough. Delve deeper and find out WHY they want to lose that 5kg, and WHEN they want to achieve it by.
Offering: Firstly, having a solid, clearly defined offering(s) is vital. Start from the customer. What is it your client needs and where can your club add value to their experience? From here you can put together packages that help to solve your clients’ problems.
Sales process: Secondly, set up a simple sales process for your trainers to follow. Keep in mind that there is a fine line between a good salesperson and highpressure sales tactics, so training is key. Asking the right questions, being a good listener, finding out exactly what the customer wants, and showing them
Follow up: As they say, fortune is in the follow up. Ensure your sales process has that final step, to follow up any potential sales that may not have been ready to start right away. A simple phone call to see how the member is doing, or a ‘special offer’ SMS or email can be enough to get them across the line. n Kate Landers is the advertising accounts manager at Creative Fitness Marketing, an agency specialising in membership drives for health clubs in the UK. Tips for enhancing your gym’s health and wellness offering A REPORT by McKinsey in April 2021 stated that consumers are now looking at wellness “through a much broader and more sophisticated lens”, meaning hey are prepared to pay for more than just fitness and nutrition but also overall physical and mental health, as well as ways to enhance appearance. The research showed that consumer interest in wellness is on the up. So how can operators position themselves as a wellbeing hub within their community to drive engagement and with it, a new demographic of members? Put yourself in their shoes As an operator it can be challenging to understand how or why others don’t share the importance of the benefits of exercise and nutrition. We can’t escape it, it’s all over the news, just how fundamental activity, exercise and good health is to fight disease, so why are we not fighting off people wanting to join our gyms, sign up for PT or ask for nutrition advice? What’s the trigger? Sometimes the best thing we can do is to ask questions and listen. Create a focus group via FB or local community group. Asking people what they want is key to overcoming potential barriers, so you

can start to speak the language that existing and potential new members, who may possibly have never embarked on any exercise or activity, will understand. This puts operators in a position to give them what they need. Ever heard the expression ‘meet them where they are at’? That’s what we need to be doing as a sector.
Create a calendar of content that covers all areas of health and wellbeing Once you have a better understanding of what your community is looking for, create a calendar of relevant content but for the first three months but don’t even mention exercise. Start softly, get their interest and grow the relationship. This communications strategy will ‘start a conversation’ with a whole new

The good news is this can be done easily by using the industry’s favourite secret weapon – a money saving platform called Orbit4. It’s similar to the smart energy saving websites, but for gym equipment/ servicing/buying/selling. Digital tech leader Daniel Jones said: “Orbit4 is a huge asset to any company involved in the fitness industry. It allows gym operators to save money by going digital. Each platform leads you to the best value option. “We understand the value that comes from knowing the real time value of your assets. Customers get a free valuation just by signing up as a seller on WeBuyGymEquipment.” Sounds too good to be true, but it’s not. The only people who will tell you not to compare prices are the people taking you for a ride. We know times have been tough and gym owners need to make as much profit from selling their used gym equipment as possible so, here are our top selling tips… 1. Find out how much your used gym kit is really worth. Auction platform WeBuyGymEquipment is used by many leading gym operators, not just to sell equipment but to get early stage valuations so they know what equity is left in their assets to act
commercial equipment from your club. If someone gets hurt, even at home, they will hold you legally liable for any damages. Traders on WeBuyGymEquipment must be fully insured so you don’t have to even think about it. 5. Don’t sell off your best pieces of kit and be left with the less attractive items gathering dust or going to the dump. In most cases it will cost you more to have your unsold items removed and taken away than the real value of the equipment.
as a deposit for the next equipment purchase. Jo Weelen from WBGE said: “Over the last seven years our platform has collated accurate residual values of more than 2,500 commercial gym equipment assets. In turn, we can offer speedy valuations of gym operators assets. “Alternatively, register on our platform and upload your equipment via our easy three step process. Within three days you’ve hit our 60+ traders in one swoop and secured the best buyback price under no obligation.” 2. How much is your time worth? It can be tempting to sell your equipment yourself as you may think it will achieve more money, however time wise alone it will be like taking on a
second job. Arranging collection and payments is a painfully time consuming and complicated process. It’s safe to say you’ll end up losing big overall. 3. Don’t sell as individual items, but as a job lot. On paper it might look like you’ll make more for the high value items, but it’s likely you’ll be left with a lot of undesirable equipment which you’ll not know what to do with, because on their own they are not worth as much when you consider the cost of logistics. 4. Don’t end up getting sued in a costly legal battle. It is a big risk letting consumers and multiple uninsured people take heavy
6. Get paid before your gym equipment even leaves the building. Guaranteed payment before extraction is worth its weight in gold. Go with a company that get you the cash right now, when you need it. No messing around chasing or losing money. 7. Read reviews before you deal with anyone. 8. Be honest about the state of what you are selling to avoid delays and confrontation later. The more tests you do and the more photos you take, the more confident you can feel about getting the right money. 9. Get it done fast. You don’t want to run out of time trying to sell items or waiting for people to turn up and collect. In a worst case scenario you could end up having your items repossessed by the landowner if your tenancy is up. Contact us on info@webuygymequipment.com or visit https://orbit4.org/ for the bigger picture.
How engaging people out of your club will encourage more people in WHILE Storm Eunice may have given parts of the UK a battering, the winds of change are continuing to blow in the direction of positive evolution within the fitness industry. The question is, are you ready to embrace that change or are you sticking to the ‘safe space’ of what you’ve always done? In last month’s column, the focus was on progression, resolutions and how effort is relative to everyone. We know that we can’t target everyone with the same message, as fitness is by no means a one-sizefits-all affair. We looked ahead at the member’s future achievements, but it’s important to foresee how you can make positive change in your business, too. In the short term, how can you better prepare your teams (or even just yourself) to add value within your community and make it more than just about coming to your gym or
facility? The best time to do this is now, with better weather on the way (fingers crossed) and restrictions lifting around the country (fingers crossed).
Can you develop how you see fitness as a step change for your community, both inside and outside the club? Fingers crossed. If you have the tools to understand how your members and their
networks complement both each other’s activity and what you offer in-gym, you can do so much more in working with them to motivate individuals and help them reach any goal. A digital platform with social engagement opportunities after every session of physical exercise gives you a complete picture of not just what’s behind a member’s activity, but often their mindset, too. When you understand how they like to train wherever they are, you’re in such a better place to tailor your expertise to their needs when they’re in your four walls. When we, as fitness professionals, understand and actively promote that progress and wellbeing don’t solely have to be in-club to still be part of our community, we’ll all be able to do better by society as a whole. Technogym Ride: the first indoor bike connected to the most popular apps Bespoke professional training sessions for cyclists and triathletes, now on the gym floor with Technogym Ride all-in-one bike THERE are tens of millions of cyclists in the world, including 50 million in the United States alone. They all dream of riding their bike on Alpe d’Huez, in the Dolomites, or Icelandic highlands. Technogym Ride is the first bike featuring a 22-inch screen that allows cyclists to dive into an unprecedented immersive indoor experience and offers fitness clubs and hotels the opportunity to attract a new huge customer target: the ever-growing cyclist community. With its integrated 22-inch console, Technogym Ride is the first bike to offer direct access to cyclists’ most loved apps, including Zwift, Strava, ROUVY and TrainingPeaks;
entertainment apps such as Netflix and Eurosport, and to a complete range of training programs and experiences, designed to improve your performance outdoors (or on the road). Technogym Ride was born from Technogym’s passion for cycling, designed together with cycling champions to offer a unique training experience to amateurs and professionals. The company has collaborated with cycling champions for over 30 years, starting with Gianni Bugno’s MG-Technogym professional team in the 1990s and since 2000 as official supplier to the Olympic Games. This bike is designed to simulate
an outdoor cycling experience and replicate real-world routes and inclines. The training sessions offered by Technogym Ride challenge you to reach the proper power zones and to ride using Technogym Ride gears on dozens of virtual routes, including the world’s most legendary hills. Alternatively, you can choose the exclusive TNT (Technogym Neuromuscular Training) programs, developed by the Technogym Research Centre to improve both metabolic and neuromuscular qualities, or you can set up a completely customized training plan based on your personal goals. From a biomechanics point of
view, Technogym Ride is equipped with a real gearbox and gives you an incredibly realistic cycling feeling compared to your outdoor bike, with a very fast reaction time: from 0 to 1,000 watts in half a second. Technogym Ride is quiet and ideal for home training; thanks to the V-shaped frame structure suits sizes from 50 to 58+. The adjustable pedal cranks can be set into three positions and the “Fast Buttons” allow users to easily access the various training modes (constant power, incline, FTP percentages) and positions of use. Everyone Active credits partnerships and collaboration for post-pandemic growth EVERYONE Active’s regional director Duncan Jefford sat down with us to reveal the decisions and priorities that put the operator in a strong position. In 2020, Everyone Active employed 13,000 people and operated 200 sites on behalf of 63 local authorities. When lockdown hit, rapid decisions had to be made about site closures, employee retention and membership engagement whilst navigating the nuances of local politics. It wasn’t easy, but Duncan is proud of how Everyone Active moved the business forward.
Digital innovations powered by partnerships Faced with the challenge of engaging 300,000 fitness members, the company fast-tracked its digital journey by creating Everyone Active On-Demand. This was an early example of how Everyone Active would collaborate with existing providers to build innovative offers that support its diverse membership. Everyone Active On-Demand incorporates several different apps, including group exercise, mindfulness, and exercise prescription platforms. The company offered the app free to all members during lockdown. 50,000 different users engaged with the app during that time, with 15,000 using it regularly. Now out of lockdown, Everyone
Active offers its app as a bolt-on to new memberships.
A rapid bounce-back of membership numbers Everyone Active reopened their sites in April 2021, and are already back to over 90 per cent of pre-pandemic income levels. Duncan puts this down to industry reputation, clarity of communications and care of the workforce. When sites reopened, the team took big steps to ensure the environment was safe and clean for staff and members. Communications took on a key role at this stage, with video walkthroughs and customised email marketing. Everyone Active also put immense time and effort into physically reconfiguring equipment layout in all 200 centres to facilitate social distancing. “January 2022 was the best start to a year we’ve ever had in terms of memberships,” said Duncan. “We’ve had double the amount of rejoiners and I think this is down to the care we took over messaging and communication whilst people were at home.” In a strong position to bid for new business Everyone Active came out of the pandemic in a strong position, having retained all individual contracts and continued building of some new sites. Since April 2021, the company
Duncan Jefford has won new contracts and opened several new centres, with more opening in early 2022. These include Winchester with its 50-metre pool and a £43m site in Derby city centre. Why did Everyone Active come out of lockdown further ahead in its recovery phase? Duncan says it’s down to their reputation, solid relationships with local authorities and strong financial position which impacts their confidence in bidding for new business. “Our physical offerings have a real impact on the commercialisation of the business, which helps us deliver on our community promise,” he added. Realigning on important community offerings In light of increased focus on physical and mental wellbeing after lockdown, Everyone Active has revisited the design and delivery of its community programmes. For example, it is working with Rebecca Adlington and Stephen Parry to roll out a swim programme aimed at getting every child swimming by the time they leave primary school. It has also shifted its GP referral programme to focus on obesityrelated issues, and is working with national partners to reach greater numbers of older adults living with chronic diseases. Creating quality experiences across new sites Duncan and his colleagues know
that the best way to engage more people across diverse demographics is to create exciting, high quality omnichannel experiences. And there’s a lot to be said for partnering with existing providers to create a win/win offer that leverages everybody’s strengths. “None of us need to reinvent the wheel,” he said. “We know that our customers want a real experience, and we need to change the way we deliver health and fitness. :We are doing this by developing our own unique offers and collaborating with great brands who are already dominating their space.” Partnering with brands that share vision and values Everyone Active works with partners who are best-in-class, and share its community values. Technogym continues to work with the company to innovate its physical offering through exciting layouts, cutting edge gym equipment, and interactive digital functionality. “Technogym has the best kit on the market, and their product range means we can choose exactly the right range of products to suit the users at our different sites,” said Duncan. “Technogym kit adds a lot of value to our digital journey and helps us stand out. “We are always excited by their digital and physical product innovation.” The future of physical activity is omnichannel Duncan is excited to see how the industry responds to people’s shifting attitudes to fitness and exercise. “The industry has always had a 15 per cent penetration rate, and I think we can expect to see this change for the better,” he added. “We have to think about attracting people back to our sites, but we also need to recognise that people want to exercise outside and at home. “How can we align our offerings with that wider experience? I think key partnerships and strategic collaboration will help us all move our vision forward.”

Free Weight Special – Lateral Deltoids
The Panatta Lateral Deltoids is a specific machine for the targeted training of the lateral head of the deltoid, which replicates the abduction movement of the arms that is typical of the exercise of lateral raises performed with dumbbells. Compared to the latter, however, the machine differs in functionality and ease of use, while offering a tension in line with the force developed by the deltoid over the entire ROM, which translates into a more effective work on muscle. The exercise performed from a sitting position with the chest in contact with the central padding eliminates back sagging, compensation and tension. The machine has the additional advantage that the resistance is applied directly on the humerus, above the elbow, by means of the two comfortable rollers; as a result, the engagement of the forearms and hands is excluded in favour of the isolation of the target muscles.
The Lateral Deltoids puts the deltoid into action, with a specific activation of the lateral head, considering the abduction of the humerus at a maximum range of 45°; in the second part of the movement, the upper trapezius and the elevator of the scapula slightly take part following a little elevation of the shoulders (lateral rotation of the scapulae). The independent load between the right and left arm creates a selective activation that eliminates muscular compensations and stimulates the balance of force between the two limbs. Why your gym needs management software BEING a gym owner is far more than just owning a gym and helping your customers reach their health goals. It’s being an accountant, a manager, a marketer, an operations expert and a whole lot more. Most owners of fitness start-ups quickly realise that they need to find more efficient ways to manage their responsibilities. After all, the success of the business depends on it. A simple solution to most of these hurdles is by getting yourself set up with robust gym management software, also known as a CRM system. Not convinced yet? Let us break down three reasons why your club should consider signing up for member management software.
1. It keeps everything in one place Gyms that operate without management software in place will typically have different information stored in different places. A spreadsheet to manage members and their payments, a diary to manage the staff rota and another spreadsheet to manage their activity bookings. Quite often this results in confusion and disorganisation, especially when multiple staff are involved in running the club. Good club management software allows you to keep everything in one place: from overall member management and payment processing to staff organising and stock management. Features and benefits will vary between gym software providers, but ClubRight offers unlimited users, meaning every single member of staff
our customers stay afloat as well as an integration with Zoom that allowed instructors to hold their classes remotely. Our CEO is a former gym owner himself, so helping gyms to survive and supporting independent gym owners is in our blood.
can have their own login to the system with different access levels so that private business information remains secure. 2. Allows you to sell online with no extra effort Following the Covid-19 pandemic, many businesses in the fitness industry are handling less cash or have gone completely cashless. Without gym software, you’ll be manually reconciling your online payments between your payments portal and your spreadsheet; a process that can take hours if you have a large membership base. Gym software helps you to bridge the gap between receiving payment and ticking off that customer as having paid. Software providers that have a solid integration with a reputable payment provider eliminate the need to manually reconcile those online payments. Having online payments connected
with your gym software also means that potential customers can browse your offering and make purchases 24/7 – so you can effectively make money while you sleep. 3. It future-proofs your business If the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that gyms need to be ready to adapt. It was reported that gyms in Great Britain lost around £3.1bn as a result of the national lockdowns that prevented them from opening in the last eighteen months. As a result, independent gym owners should consider how they can futureproof their businesses. Having reliable gym software in place allows for a more robust business model and even provides more growth opportunities. For example, when the pandemic hit in March 2020, we released a new OnDemand content feature to help
Conclusion In summary, there are plenty of benefits to using a member management system at your club. By making sure that internal operations are running seamlessly, you’ll have even more opportunities to delight your members and grow a sustainable business that allows you to fulfil your passion – without the admin headache. Gym software providers’ solutions typically vary in value and service level, so be sure to do your research and make sure the company that you sign up with is right for you. Just because you’re paying a large sum of money for the service doesn’t always guarantee quality. Upholstery business franchised to meet demands
GYM Upholstery UK has worked within the fitness industry since 2001 supplying fitness equipment upholstery repair to large gym chains. During the pandemic, Gym Upholstery UK took the time to reflect and re-evaluate its services to the leisure industry. The main thing that stood out more than any other was lead times. These customer demands were reassessed and a new plan of action has been undertaken. Gym Upholstery, having a majority service share of the UK, has decided to franchise its on-site upholstery business to meet these customer
demands. This will allow Gym Upholstery UK to use the franchise network to improve lead times and better
performance. Gym Upholstery has also recently heavily invested in CNC technology to manufacture full complete replacement padding for fitness equipment. This will allow them to quickly supply their on-site franchisees with quality product pad replacement. The real bonus to the end customer is that they have managed to reduce their manufacturing costs down, below their previous re-upholstery prices. Gym Upholstery has made their pricing structure easy to navigate with two options: n Fitness equipment upholstery
repair £32 per pad. n Fitness equipment full pad replacement £38 per pad Gym Upholstery has not only made physical changes to their operations but also rebranded with an interactive website, personalising its unique revolutionary service app to individual franchisees. Managing director Dean Boyle said: “Gym Upholstery UK will fast become a regional service provider in all areas.” Gym Upholstery UK is now recruiting franchisees across the UK for an investment of £4,950.
