It has been a busy week in school with a Year 10 Classics trip to Bath on Monday and Year 12 History trip to the Black Country Museum on Thursday. We hope our students enjoyed these opportunities and thank you to the staff for organising them.
Tickets are on sale for Shrek, we hope you can make it and look forward to seeing you there!
Next week, we have our Year 10 Geography trip to Liverpool , and English workshop in school for Year 12 and a French play in school for Years 9 and 10; together with Cricket and Athletics competitions.

Duke of Edinburgh certificate recognising WGHS Volunteering and Impact for 2024/2025
Congratulations to our students who participated in The Duke of Edinburgh's Award over the last 12 months. We received a certificate in recognition of their volunteering efforts 3224 hours with a social value of £20,632. This is a fantastic achievement, well done to everyone who took part!
Reminder – Fees due for Music Lessons 2025-2026
Parents/Carers who have applied for music lessons for next year 2025-26 should have received information about their daughter’ s provisional music lesson allocation.
Please remember to make payment for lessons for the Autumn term 2025 via Parentpay, by Sunday 15th June 2025.
If you are having trouble logging into ParentPay or are experiencing difficulties making the payment, please contact our Finance Department at accounts@wghs.org.uk
Please note: If payment is not received by 15th June 2025, and we have not heard from you, we will assume that you no longer wish your daughter to take up the lessons, and the place will be offered to another student.
Sparx Reader Leaderboard Update
As you might remember our English department is currently trialling Sparx Reader. Sparx Reader is an online reading platform that helps students to practise reading regularly, to set them up for success at secondary school and in life beyond. A huge well done to 7C who have topped last week’ s leaderboard! A special mention to Naomi I (Year 7) who has logged 32 hours of reading a phenomenal effort, well done Naomi!
Creative Careers
In March 2026 Mrs Booton-Ford, our Director of English and Performing Arts, will be running a creative careers fortnight, to highlight the potential careers students can go into through studying English and Performing Arts. There are an array of careers in the arts, many which are rarely considered, and over the coming months we will look to highlight these within our E-Bulletin and Student Bulletin. If your daughter has a particular interest in English and Performing Arts, please talk to her about these sorts of roles.
Former student Nteokan stars in promotion for Careers in Engineering
Nteokan decided that A Levels were not the best path for her post 16 education. Instead she opted for an Apprenticeship. She started a Level 3 Machining Technician Apprenticeship in September 2023 and said choosing a work based route had been

Megan swims to success!
Congratulations to Year 8 student Megan, who took part in her swimming club championships on Saturday 7th June, and came away with two Silver medals, one for 50m backstroke, and the other for 50m butterfly. Megan has been with Heath Town swimming club, based at Bentley Bridge for just over two years. Well done Megan!
Daisy nets a spot
Well done to Year 7 netballer Daisy. Last weekend Daisy trialled for Tibberton Under 14s Elite netball squad and successfully secured a place for next year. Great work Daisy!
Four Distinctions for Laasya
Most recently, Laasya completed her Grade 4 examination in Communication, Speaking Verse and Prose. As part of the examination, she was required to recite and memorise one poem and one extract from a book. The poem she chose was “Dancing Disk in the Sky” by Hibaq Osman and the extract was from “Nancy Drew and the Riverboat Ruse”.
Her score of 90/100 meant that she was awarded with her fourth Distinction in LAMDA exams.
Year 8 student Laasya has been taking elocution classes for 7 years and during this time, she has undertaken four examinations as part of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), Most recently, Laasya completed her Grade 4 examination in Communication, Speaking Verse and Prose. As part of the examination, she was required to recite and memorise one poem and one extract from a book. The poem she chose was “Dancing Disk in the Sky” by Hibaq Osman and the extract was from “Nancy Drew and the Riverboat Ruse”. Her score of 90/100 meant that she was awarded with her fourth Distinction in LAMDA exams. Laasya has since put her elocution lessons to good use by taking part in the upcoming school musical production of Shrek. She hopes to continue her love of public speaking and performance through the remainder of her time at WGHS .
