Friday 6th March 2026

As we move through a busy and purposeful Spring Term at Wolverhampton Girls'High School, our focus is firmly on supporting students to achieve their very best.Year 11 and Sixth Form students are engaging in focused exam preparation and completing key NEAcoursework, while Creative Careers Fortnight is opening eyes to exciting future pathways.
Over the past 2 weeks we are delighted to have hosted new Sixth Form events for prospective students and welcomedlocal primary pupils for our Year 5 STEM Discovery Days, strengthening our outreach and inspiring the next generation of the Girls’High family.
As families received their secondary school offers on National Offer Day earlier this week,we know this can be an exciting and,at times, emotional moment. We would like to warmly congratulate all students who have been offered a place and say how much we look forward to welcoming you to our school community. For those who may not have received the outcome they had hoped for, please be reassured that waiting lists and appeals remain an option, and movement can and does occur. We wish every family the very best as you take the next steps in your child’ s educational journey.

It’ s been an incredible week for Hattie as she travelled with her GB team to the 51st Pokal Loka in Škofja Loka,Slovenia an international children’ s FIS race bringing together 219 racers from 26 countries The conditions were challenging, but Hattie did the team proud, securing two fantastic 5th-place podium finishes in the Slalom races.
She then headed to the Zagreb Children’ s Trophy FIS international race in Zagreb,Croatia, which again attracted over 200 competitors from more than 20 countries.Hattie delivered a superb performance to take 3rd place in GS,missing out on the win by just 0.15 seconds.Although her final SL race ended in an unfortunate DNF,she achieved podium finishes in three out of four international races an outstanding accomplishment.
The week concluded back on her home slope in Reiteralm,Austria, where she competed in Rounds 8 and 9 of the Nations Cup. Hattie secured a well-deserved win in GS and an impressive 3rd place in Slalom, with margins once again incredibly tight.
Now it’ s back to an intensive two-week training block, balancing school, fitness, and preparation, before she heads to Bormio,Italy, for the English Championships

A huge congratulations to Year 11 student,Amelia (Stafford) who has been named West Midlands Region Cadet of the Year 2026 for St John Ambulance.
In order to be awarded this role,Amelia took part in a two day event over the weekend. This consisted of an interview, delivery of a presentation,an exam and multiple assessments through group activities and discussions.
As part of the national cadet of the year team,Amelia will promote the role of SJA cadets across the West Midlands, and attend national events including the Remembrance Day parade at the Cenotaph.
This is such a wonderful achievement, her family and all at WGHS are incredibly proud of her!
On Friday 6th February,we were chosen to represent Wolverhampton Girls’High for the KS4 National Badminton Tournament for the County round, after successfully playing the initial two tournaments We played at Newbridge Under-Lyme School, staying for the day, playing both singles and doubles games, and came second place.
It was a new experience, and it was nice to see how other players performed and find new aspects to improve ourselves. This was a great opportunity to understand our weaknesses, learn and improve for next time, and it was very fun to work together as a team and support each other along the way.

Netball - great effort from our B’s
A huge well done to our Girls’High B’ s who recently finished in a fantastic 4th place out of 9 teams after they only had their first practice as a team the day before,Each and every player played extremely well (for some players it was their first tournament too).Even when players weren’t on the court, everyone was still extremely supportive, cheering their teammates on and encouraging them We successfully worked well together as a team with great contributions from all players.

On Tuesday 20th January Year 12 & 13 Business Studies and Economics students went on an educational visit to JCB Headquarters in Rocester. The visit began with a presentation in the JCB Theatre showing the corporate brand video on the global manufacturing facilities and products. Then we had a personal tour of the ‘’Story of JCB’’ exhibition and museum and then time in the JCB gift shop. Next, we saw the assembly line of the worldfamous Backhoe Loader machine; we observed the process of how the machine is built from the delivery of the sheet steel, profiling, laser cutting, welding, paint shop, assembly and finally the finished product. Some groups also witnessed quality testing of the finished loadall telehandlers outside and had a tour of the open plan offices.
All groups received information on careers at JCB during the lecture theatre video, including apprenticeship pathways. Apprenticeships Our specialist guides gave each group focused information on careers at JCB throughout the tour. We learnt that JCB is an excellent employer with many career paths for young people. They offer level 2 through to level 6 apprenticeships. There is officebased work available as well as factory positions. Some of the office positions are: law, HR, marketing, accountancy, sales and customer service. All staff seemed happy and very proud to work at JCB. Many workers have stayed all their careers working for JCB and often multiple relatives from a family are employed by JCB. The benefits offered to employees at JCB are: private medical & dental services, pension, gym membership, increasing annual leave linked to years of service, careers advice, many discounts linked to local businesses including restaurants and leisure activities.
We learnt that the Global Events team have an exciting job touring the world with the display team and promoting the brand of JCB.
