A Message from our Headteacher As we reach the end of this half term, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the many achievements and moments of pride we have shared as a school community. Our students have embraced every opportunity— House Arts, Netball Tournaments, Cross Country, Enrichment Fair, Open Events and many more. The enthusiasm and commitment of our students has been wonderful!

My thanks go to our dedicated staff, whose hard work and care ensure that every student is supported to achieve her best, and to our parents and carers for their continued encouragement and partnership. Together, we continue to foster a culture of excellence and belonging that makes WGHS such a special place.

I hope that all our students enjoy a well-deserved break, take time to rest and recharge, and return refreshed for the exciting weeks ahead.

Thank you all for your ongoing support, and I wish you a restful and enjoyable half-term holiday.

School News Harvest Collection

Every year, WGHS organises a Harvest Collection as a school in order to support vulnerable and marginalised communities within Wolverhampton. This year's donations, like many before, were given to the Good Shepherd Wolverhampton, and the quantity of donations greatly exceeded expectations, which will likely be a great help to many this coming winter.

I would like to extend a massive thank you to all who took the time to donate to the Good Shepherd this year and encourage everyone to consider those whose access to food and harvest has been most impacted by environmental issues/climate change. I hope this year's harvest served as a reminder to help out within your own communities however you can, no matter how small!

Sixth Form Open Evening

Our Sixth Form Open Evening will be taking place on Thursday 27th November. It is a fantastic opportunity for our Year 11 students to speak to teachers and Sixth Form students about A Level subjects and what life is like in Sixth Form at WGHS. Parents’ Guild Christmas Raffle Look out for our Christmas Raffle - more details after half-term. Many great prizes to be won.

School News Open Events This week we have hosted 3 Open Events for prospective Year 7 students and their families with 359 families visiting. We have received some fantastic feedback about our events. Visitors were extremely complimentary of our school and the wonderful students who represented us by touring, speaking during Headteacher’s talks, subject ambassadors and school ambassadors. Thank you to all the staff, students and parents/carers who support these events.

School News School Meals Account Please take a minute to check your daughter’s school meals account balance by logging into your Parentpay account www.parentpay.com Please ensure there is enough money on your school meals account for your daughter to make purchases at the school canteen. The account should be kept in credit.

We would also appreciate the prompt payment of any arrears.

The Book Nook We've had a busy and successful time in the Library this half term!

Over the last seven weeks we've opened our doors and welcomed some visiting students during our Open Events, we've discussed all things reading in our KS3 and KS4/5 Book Clubs, and we've added a whole heap of new books to our physical collection. I for one can't wait to see what the next half term holds

As a quick reminder, the next meetings for our Book Clubs will be: KS3 - 24th November (theme: fantasy) KS4/5 - 3rd November (theme: spooky) As October comes to a close, here are our current stats: As of 22nd October, we've had 312 books taken out of the Library.

We've seen an increase in non-fiction readers thanks to a new selection of non-fiction books, including titles such as Chemistry for Beginners and The Rest is History!

Our most popular book so far has been The Babysitters Club Graphic Novel: Dawn and the Impossible Three, based on the books by Ann M. Martin and illustrated by Gale Gilligan.

My Star Library Borrower for October is... Keerat from Ferrers House!

Our eLibrary has had 132 loans total this month.

Audiobooks have been growing in popularity compared to last month.

Our most popular book on eLibrary so far has been 1984 by George Orwell.

My Star eLibrary Borrower for October is... Saanvi from Audley House, for the second time in a row! Well done, Saanvi!

Enrichment Fair 14th-17th October

This year we have introduced an Enrichment Fair in the first half term to raise awareness of clubs and encourage students to participate in activities they're interested in and make new friends.

Enrichment Clubs set up displays in the hall and across the week students used form time to explore the various activities on offer. There was a wide variety of clubs on offer, Music Enrichment, Cross Country, Harry Potter, Anime & Manga, Chess, Eco Club, Afro-Caribbean Society, Marketing, Economic Society, Feminist Society, Sociology, Lego Robotics, Engineering Society, Islam Society and many more.

It was a great event and really well received by new and existing students who had the opportunity to look into activities they might not have previously been aware of.
