I am delighted to share with you the success of Culture Day in school on Thursday 29th January. The day was a wonderful celebration of the rich diversity within our school community and a powerful reflection of our school values of Care, Courtesy, Cooperation and Respect. Students and staff took great pride in representing their cultures through traditional dress, food, music, dance, songs and poetry creating an atmosphere that was electric!
It was inspiring to see our students engaging so thoughtfully with one another, asking questions, sharing stories and learning from different perspectives. Events such as Culture Day play an important role in helping our students develop empathy, confidence and a strong sense of global citizenship.
I would like to thank all students, staff and families who contributed to making the day such a memorable experience. Your enthusiasm, creativity and support ensured that Culture Day was not only enjoyable but meaningful for everyone involved

Culture Day was a vibrant and inspiring celebration of the diversity that makes our school community so special. Students proudly shared their cultures through traditional dress, music, food and poetry, creating an atmosphere of respect and joy. The day provided a valuable opportunity for students to learn from one another, deepen their understanding of different cultures and reflect on the importance of inclusion and global citizenship. It was a memorable event that highlighted the confidence, creativity and unity of our students. Thank you to our student leaders Anya and Bethia who did a fantastic job alongside our Assistant Headteacher, Mr Postle - it was a fantastic day and we really appreciate all the effort the three of you put into it.

WGHS has some exceptionally talented footballers, many of which play for clubs outside of school and multiple players representing at regional level. We have had great success with our football teams over the past few years winning city championship competitions The growth in the women ’ s game means it is now a part of the curriculum and the popularity of our KS3 football enrichment club (60 students every week) demonstrates the our students passion for the national sport. We are committed to providing opportunities for our young footballers regardless of ability. If your daughter is interested in attending KS3 Football it takes place every Wednesday during social enrichment in the Sports Hall or Drive Field.
Being a part of our football club in social enrichment time has been an incredible experience that extends beyond just the game The thrill of being surrounded by teammates who share the same passion, creates a sense of closeness that's hard to match. Every Wednesday teaches me valuable lessons in teamwork, resilience and the joy of improving my skills. I truly enjoy it, but what makes it special are the bonds created. Every moment fuels my love for sports and especially football - Inaaya S ( Year 8 Student).
